Hi all, I have spent some time looking through the forums to see if I can find an answer to my questions. So far I have made three coasters from DVD dics, and don't desire to waste any more. I have movies on my hard drive in avi and mpg format. I use Nero as my buring program.

What I've been doing is opening Nero to: "Make your Own DVD-video". From there I follow the steps of locating the video files I desire, and dragging them to the window that collates all of them. I have had no problems all the way through...I get the scene selection all done, I burn in NTSC format, usually at 8X speed.

The program works away, telling me it'll take 4 hours, but usually 2 hours into the process, the disc ejects and a failure window pops up. It then asks if I'd like to save a txt file of the problem.

Anyway, am I silly in thinking Nero would do what I desire that easily? All I want to do is take simple avi and mpg files, and make them play on my stand alone DVD for the TV. Thanks guys - sorry for this being so long. Here is part of what is listed in the txt file I saved - note the highlighted portion:

hi nick i now know that me and my sister and a few of my friends aren't the only ones having this problem we have emailed nero and asked them and they said we have to up grade but we already did all of that..we have reinstalled it and everything now my problem is i can burn one movie and if i want to burn the same movie for my daughter i have to recode it again...i have all the codecs and plugins..on sunday i wasted a total of 7 dvds if not more...the only thing i could really think of is that the movie you are trying to burn could be a bad file even if it is a nice picture i had to delete my movie and redownload another file and then it will work i do really like the nero but it is very frustrating at times and it works one day good for me and then another day it won't work at all...what i suggest is maybe delete that file and find another file of the same movie and try it and if it does it again as soon as i can get a hold of my friend to find out why i sure would be the first to let you know...i know we are all ready to give up on nero all together becuase of the problems we are having....i know this doesn't help you much but i also just wanted to let you know there are alot of people having the same trouble and still haven't find out how to fix the problem....well gl and if i find out more on how to solve your problem i will let you know.....
