I had the trial Nero and made several video dvd's, I just bought it since my trial expired.

Now, when I try to burn a video I am getting windows that say the following.

" unable to prepare data for recording: Prepare session failed" Transcoding of videos failed."

    And a window that says

    "Third Party Patent Activation"
    Patent Activation Failed
It is necessary to connect to the internet to enable a one-time activation. We could not establish a connection to the Nero web server. If you are using a firewall please ensure that Nero's activation is allowed to pass your firewall. Please retry to connect to the Internet again by clicking the Download button and continue using your product without further interruption.

I'm waiting for tech support to email me but thought someone here might have a suggestion.

    thanks, Renee

    Hi 1renee
Do you have the serial # for the paid version?

Try this - open smartstart - in the bottom right hand corner you'll see a icon w/ a somewhat looking flame in it. Click that one - product center.
Then on the left click on license. If you paid for serial # is not listed click add and add it. Then remove the demo one.

If that doesn't do it - uninstall Nero - run the clean tool.
Reinstall Nero - make sure you put the paid serial # in when it pops up.

    Give those a go.
