Hi All, I have absolutely no clue where to even start with this one. I am having a big problem with nero video player and the dvd burning utilities. Heck I'm not even sure it's the nero, it could be the OS but I have absolutely zero clue how to even start to trouble shooting this, never saw anything like it before. I have a couple of videos I downloaded off limewire, I made a great dvd under windows 32 bit using sonic mydvd (which unfortunately doesn't run under 64 bit and since sonic never updates just puts out their hand for more of my $$$$ I have to buy new). Using the same files I have tried several times to make a dvd under nero 7 running on windows xp 64 bit professional, the problem is the soundtrack is out of sync with the video every time. These same files worked flawlessly under another program so I don't think there's anything wrong with them and I've run them through a AVI fixer program and it says they are clean so I don't think it's a glitch issue. Again, under 32bit xp I made a disk with these files that is fine, under 64 bit I can't get a movie without the soundtrack being a LOT of out of sync. I have downloaded all the newest patches and updates for nero, I have gotten the newest sound card driver for my soundblaster x-fi extreme music and I've even went looking for codec packages to be sure that wasn't the problem. Unfortunately, for the moment M$ has pretty much abandoned 64bit professional in favor of working on VISTA (da bumbs) and there haven't been a lot of fixes for anything but security since it came out. For some reason on one of the files, Nero seems to think it's PAL and not NTSC, could this have anything to do with the problem? I know pal is a different frame rate from NTSC and any attempts to change one from the other is not the simplest thing in the world. I think the only other thing I can do is try another burning package. XP64 bit does come with windows movie maker, I guess I can try those files there to see if the result is any different and I think Roxio/Sonic has a version of their burning suite that runs under 64 but this is really a vexing problem for such an expensive package (fortunately I got in on a deal and it was fifty bucks instead of 99 but that's still a lot of money in my book). Any suggestions are appreciated and yeah I don't think the files play right under windows media player either which would point away from nero and back to the OS again. All help is appreciated.
As you probably know Roxio and Nero do not go together, they conflict so that is why it is recommended that they NOT both be installed. I also have supplied a link to a thread about the latest version of Roxio.http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/354692 If you are using a version of Nero later than 7.0.8.2 then you will have a "buggy" version installed, 7.0.8.2 is the latest stable version.
I have nero 7.2.3.2 according to the info tool. The Roxio isn't installed yet when the out of sync audio problem occurs. I tried again using windows media player the questionable files play fine, it's something goofy with nero or the combination of nero and my xp64bit os.
Got Roxio easy media creator 8 last night. Uninstalled nero, it also gives errors with the same files, this is a head scratcher because they worked fine with 32 bit my dvd studio 6. Mysteriously after I run these files through movie maker then roxio will take it, there is still a slight audio mismatch, not nearly as bad as on nero but it is there. I uninstalled the codec pack I downloaded and it said something about a broken codec. Anyone know of a good reliable AVI file repair utility that can address out of sync audio? Just trying to eliminate a file issue as the problem but what's mysterious is the same files worked fine under 32 bit.
Obviously you didnt read the thread about Roxio8, and I suppose you still have Nero 7.2.3.2 installed.
Apparently you didn't read the part about completely uninstalling Nero, so NO, THERE IS NO NERO INSTALLED. What choice do I have? Only Roxio and Nero work on xp64 as far as I know unless I feel like going back to 32 bit it's what I'm stuck with. Now how about a few suggestions? Thanks.
