just thought you might want to know that Nero was just updated 4/27/06 ..... hopefully this version might have the bug fixes that many members are looking forward to.

It still does not address the Nero Vision slow launching problem.

I agree, NeroVision is still messed up. But my problem is video freezing when editing. I even went so far as to crank up an old AMD board with a 1.3 G Athlon to see if it made any difference. Three computers with fresh installs of WinXP and the all did exactly they same.

I did notice something strange, while NeroVision would not play an MP4 file after skipping ahead or back, ShowTime did play the same file using the slider to go forward and back with no hesitation noticed. The file was the Basic Instinct 2 video downloaded from the Nero site.

ShowTime did just play a DVD all the way through without freezing, which was an earlier problem for me.

AFAIK 7.0.1.4 is the last version without NeroVision having this "freezing when editing" problem. I've also tried clean installs of newest versions (as advised by Nero-Support), but no success.
Unfortunately I deleted the 7.0.1.4 (does anybody know where to get it?), but at least I found a 7.0.1.2, where NeroVision is working fine now.
Nero Support doesn't even know about the problem. They say.

    @venkman27
I have been using 7.0.8.2 since it release and to date have not experienced any problems, I use NVE pretty much exclusively.

7.0.1.4 is the version we recommend uninstalling due to some bugs.

    Thanks for the advice!
I think the bug question is not "are there or are there not".
It is "how many and which".
And this particular bug is NOT included in 7.0.1.2/4

But anyway (dumb question?): Where do I find NVE in the Nero 7 Premium Edition? I'd be glad to use it, if it works!

    Regards, venkman

Open Nero StartSmart and click on as shown to reveal programs available

you then get this, select Nero Vision (which is NVE4)

    @gwendolin
Thanks again, but [bold]if[/bold] NeroVision4 [bold]is[/bold] NVExpress, then this doesn't adress the problem.
Of course I know how to start NeroVision. Otherwise I wouln't have been able to run into problems with this part of Nero.
And the problem is: no navigation in the video files (cutting or extracting still pictures) is possible in NeroVision4 after Nero version 7.0.1.4.
This thread was exactly about this problem, as far as I have recognized it. I've done A LOT installing/deinstalling during the last week and what solved the problem I've posted above.
Please correct me, if one of my conclusions is wrong.

    Regards, venkman

I totally disagree that Nero7.0.1.4 is a BUG free version, so that is the reason why the majority recommend uninstalling it, running the clean tool and installing 7.0.8.2.

I am NOT here to argue , whatever works for you. I have covered and answered many threads in this forum and I will NOT be changing my opinion of 7.0.1.4 all I can do is point out it's bugs and the rest is up to the poster, as I said...whatever works for you.

    @gwendolin
So we agree upon the naming: NeroVision4 = NeroVisionExpress
We do not have to agree upon 7.0.1.4 being bug free, because I didn't claim that in any way.
    And last, but not least:
Do we agree upon the bug about navigation in video files in Nero > 7.0.1.4?
If we do, we can talk about how to solve this problem using the latest versions. If not, there's nothing to talk about. I don't want to argue either, I would like to have my problem solved. I would like to use the latest version of Nero WITH NeroVision, what I can't so far.

[bold]And:[/bold] I don't want to seem harsh in any way. Please accept my apology, if I did. I'm very glad that I've found a Nero forum at last, after experiencing the pooooor support of the vendor, and I very much appreciate what you are contributing here.

    and this

certainly gives me the impression that you are saying 7.0.1.4 is bug free, as I said...whatever works for you.

This one particular bug does not seem to be included in 7.0.1.4.
I worked a lot with NV using this version without problems.
I didn't say a word about any other bug that might be in 7.0.1.4.

Why I asked about a place where I can get 7.0.1.4 again is that I deleted it after installing 7.0.5.4.
Later I recognized the bug in NV.
Now I'm using 7.0.1.2 which I found on old magazine-cd on my second computer, because it's the only way for me to utilize NV.

To bring this to an end:
    Are you saying,
"Yes, there is this NV-bug in the latest versions, and there's nothing we can do about it, besides waiting?"

If YES, I think we're through with this.
If NO: what can I do?

What I am saying is that I have been using 7.0.8.2 since it's release and have NOT experienced any problems what so ever. This is the version that most at AD recommend as they too have found it to be BUG FREE.

Heres a quote from my earlier post

In the end it's up to you to choose your particular version...once ahain...[bold]whatever works for you[/bold]

I tried to address the problem of Saltgrass.
I've made a suggestion that worked for me.
I'm not happy being forced to use an outdatet and likely buggier software than the latest versions.
But if all you contribute to the solving of the [bold]described problem[/bold] is, to say that you're not experiencing it, what are we talking about here?

@Saltgrass, some versions of Nero are causing problems that no one can explain. What is recommended is that you switch to a version that is bug free, to date it has been found that the version that at this stage appears to be bug free is 7.0.8.2. This is the version I have been using with success for some time now.
What I would recommend is that if you wish to upgrade to this version I would do the following...Uninstall your current version, run this clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html

to remove all traces and then install 7.0.8.2 from this link

    http://www.nero.com/nero7/enu/nero7-up.php

and with any luck you too will experience the success that I am achieving, Good luck and Cheers.

BTW you havent mentioned which version you are using

venkman27, I am NOT the ONLY who is advising switching to 7.0.8.2..if you have been at this forum for any length of time you will notice that this advice is given quiet often...it's through overall experience that the advice is given

    Not quite right.
Saltgrass mentioned the version he uses in his signature.

I am using version 7.0.1.4 of Nero 7. All the burning software seems to work fine, but Show Time and updated Nero Vision don't. Both of my problems seem to be related to video streams or feeds freezing/stopping. [/bold]

7.0.1.4 seems a bit buggy to him.

Gwendolin, if you can get the version of NV that comes with Nero7 7.0.8.2 (4.1.0.15) to not freeze up when you try to edit the Basic Instinct 2 video, then there is something different about your setup that is different from 5 different setups I have tried.

I suppose e-mailing me or posting the results of an infoTool scan would not be appropriate, but what processor are you running? Something that was changed in a version after 4.1.0.9 was changed, otherwise why would reinstalling that version allow it to work again.

Since you seem to be familiar with the NVE version, maybe you have something left over from that. I believe they said something about adding H.364 capability in 7.0.8.2--maybe you have a different codec for that. It is strange they took the release notes for version 4.1.0.15 down.

From my experiences, advising someone to install version 7.0.8.2 that uses NeroVision 4 for editing is not a good idea.

I have been waiting to someone to tell me what the heck is wrong, but no one has any suggestions, especially Nero Tech Support. I realize you know this, but just so we can stay straight, there is a Nero Express 7 and a Nero Vision 4. I don't have problems with Nero Express 7 and they no longer use the Nero Vision Express title.
