I am thinking about trying to prepare a slide show and wondered if there is any tutorial available here. First, I have to scan my 35 mm pics and save them to a 500 gig ext drive that I have. Then from there I wanted to be able to add music to the background. I came across a google thread re adding the music, however the contents of that thread are beyond me as I don't store music on my notebook. In other words I am not an mp3 user. I am a baby boomer with a great audio home system and enjoy my CD's..perhaps that will explain my era of interest in music. I would be using music from my cd collection, I have selected several songs and again don't have a clue about what I should be doing with this music in order to eventually use it as background music? Also uncertain about the "project" concept and how this will be used once I have all of my pics in my Ext HDD? Sorry for such mundane questions, however this whole process is new to me and I am trying to figure out how to get started in order that I would appreciate the valued experience here. Thank you. BTW, I have had some other apps recommended to me b/c of ease of use of fading and syncing with music etc. So I am just trying to figure out what I should consider doing.
I use PhotoDVD by VSO. you can do everything that you want to and more: http://www.vso-software.fr/products/photodvd/photodvd.php read all about it and also it has well defined help forums to show you the way! http://www.cdr-zone.com/forum/about8572.html read how to add music!
I appreciate the reply b/c I feel like the millenium has struck here as the last editing that I really did was with my sony hi 8 camcorders and that was with sony edit equipment. Now I want to do something with photos that still are 35 mm and I will have to scan and store in a large external HD and then figure out what app to use to burn them along with a music background. I did a lot of still amateur photos and so I don't want to lose the intended 'memories' aspect. Again I appreciate any and all comments...as users here are more experienced than I !!!! Thank you
no thanks is needed. welcome to afterdawn. that's what members do here. we give back what we learned and pass the info on to others who want to know. PhotoDVD is a great app. there are plenty of others but I love PhotoDVD. I know that Nero slideshow is available, too. And a simple google came up with this: http://www.photodex.com/eid8040/psg_jump.html?gclid=COLe7Pe5gJQCFRghnAodJFI0Xg so just look around and you'll find.
Hey Im with you, I just began using slide show, and have run into a few problems. It is relatively easy to use. simmilar to making DVD's however I ran into a problem with the amount of photos per chapter and also the menu system. You have to make your slide show in segments of 40 pics, after 40 pics the program crashes. The good news is I think you can add as many segments as you want, but they can only be 40 pics or less. to add music you have to use WAV files not mp3's. easilly converted from one form to the other. And the neat feature about the music is you can set it to play for the duration of the slide show. To get your songs off your cd's you can just rip them using windows media player, just need to make sure they are converted after that to WAV after that, not sure if you get the option from media player to convert directly to WAV. the Menu system I could not get to work at all. It shows up on the DVD player after I burn the disc but i cant select the chapters, it is totally locked up. Im sure im doing something wrong but its not really important at this moment, so I just Omit the menu and have it start playback from the first chapter. Ill check back if you have any more questions maybe i can help.
Thx for the replies. I am going to do more reading on Photo DVD. I want to do about 25 pics each with 6 different songs and so I need to know if I am going to be in my comfort zone taking these songs off the cd's and storing them...I guess each song in My music and then figuring out how to insure that I have enough pics to cover the music played...fading etc. That is what concerns me...being a noob to all of this, however up to the challenge !!!! I look forward to more comments, thank you.
Anyone have experience with Pro Show Gold.... after some reading and talking to their support in Austin Texas, I am considering doing the trial download and see how it works. I found it while I continued to google. Appreciate any and all comments. Thank you
