    Hello.

NVE4 has some issues with transcodings/conversions. What version of Nero 7 are you using? Some find 7.0.8.2 works a little better than other versions, while many continue to use the relatively rock solid 6.6.0.18 and NVE3. Many others have given up and gone to standalones like ConvertXtoDVD and others.

If you decide to upgrade/downgrade Nero, be sure to run the appropriate Nero Clean Tool first. Since you have a version of Nero 7 installed, you need to run the Nero 7 Clean Tool (write down the program serial number before running):

Here are the versions of Nero you might try:

    7.0.8.2: http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845

    There's a new update out as well, 7.2.7.0: http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/nero7-up.php

    I haven't tried it yet so I don't know if it's any better w/r to NVE4.

    Nero 6.6.0.18:
    Package 1: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/Nero-6.6.0.18_no_yt.exe
    Package 2: http://httpdl1.usw.nero.com/software/Nero6/NVE-3.1.0.21_no_yt.exe

These are some alternative AVI to DVD conversion programs:
    VSO's ConvertXtoDVD: http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_dvd/
    DVD Copy 5 Platinum: http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/InterVideoDVDCopy_Profile.jsp
    TMPGEnc Xpress 4: http://tmpgenc.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/te4xp.html#trial
    DVD Santa: http://www.dvdsanta.com/
    The Film Machine: http://members.home.nl/thefilmmachine/

ConvertXtoDVD and DVD Santa watermark their trial version output and I believe TMPG Xpress limits the conversion to the first 30 minutes or something like that. I haven't tried that one in a while. ConvertXtoDVD is very popular. DVD Copy 5 is fully functional (or used to be).

If none of the alternate program will convert the file into a usable converted file, then you know something was wrong with the original file. Otherwise, it's likely a NVE problem with the file.
