I know that the newer versionof nero are supposed to be buggy, but anyways I used the "fit to disk" feature to fit a 2 hour movie onto the disc (DVD5) and it automaticly sets it so that it takes up 4.36gigs of space. So I start converting and everything is fine and dandy just until it finishes converting when it says that "there isn't enough space on this disc, please insert another". Well the disc I had inserted was empty. I decided to burn it as an image and the image turned out to be 5.4 gigs! I guess that this is more of a bug than something I need help on... just letting everyone know that early adapters don't always get the worm. I guess i'll have to go back to setting the quality myself, although the new motion menus are pretty cool.
The latest NeroVision 4 releases seem to have a problem converting certain types of files and are showing situations like you describe. I would suggest you use another program like ConvertX or someone else just mentioned Movie Converter 3.1 to convert the files first. I, of course, am assuming the graph on the bottom of the window is where you got the 4.36 gig number. Hopefully an update will be out soon, but not as of 6/21/2006.
Yeah it was the graph on the bottom. I guess i'll just have to uninstall and put on an older version. Turned out that when I manually set the video size (it said 3 gig on the graph) it still made the file too big after it was converted
I noticed in the release notes for an earlier version they had fixed a problem with the graph being wrong if the disc capacity was exceeded, for DVD +VR situations. Maybe they have a similar problem here. If you do go back and try the earlier version, please post back if it helps. I suppose you know how to use the Clean tool. I just tried N 7 v 7.0.5.5, and it appears to have the problem, so I would suggest going to Nero 7 v 7.0.1.4, at least to test. It won't do animated menus, and the ShowTime version in that will lock up, so you have to select the Microsoft DVD Navigation.
whoombat I had exact same error backing up Hostel :-0. Gone right back to Nero 6.6.018 which ive used for ages with no probs. Think ill wait a while before i try Nero7 again
Nero7, version 7.0.8.2 is the latest known "stable" version, its available here http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845 but I would recommend uninstalling any previous version you had, whether it be Nero7 or Nero6 , run the appropriate clean tool Nero7 Clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html Nero6 Clean Tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html before installation.
