I had Nero 8 and found nero vision 5 less good than version 4. DVD menus were too basic. I used the Nero cleaning tool to remove Nero 8. Reinstall Nero 7. Custom install. Now, when I lauch nero vision 4, it stalls there. I see the splash screen and then nothing. I have to restart my PC! Any clues? I find Nero vision the simplest way to burn AVI or MPG to DVD so I can watch them on my home dvd player. But I wish there was else. Every time Nero lauches a new version, it also launches a new bug or problem. Thanks in advance.
There would seem to be something corrupted in the second install. Uninstall with the Add/Remove Control Panel and then run the both the Nero 7 Clean Tool and the Registry/Driver Clean Tool. Then reinstall Nero 7.10.1.0.
Thanks for the kind reply. I have the clean tool. But I can't find on Nero's website, the registry/driver clean tool.
Gwen, I think the member had the Clean Tool. We were looking for the Driver Clean Tool/Registry Checker Tool which they seem to have gotten rid of. No biggie, I guess.
It got worse. I removed with clean tool. Nero burning rom starts fine. But nero vision 4 still stalls. I have to press the Power button to turn off my PC.
Did you download 7.10.1.0 from Nero.com. I had this happen with one of the later versions of Nero and I ended up reformatting my HDD and reinstalling to solve the problem. I could never narrow down the cause so figured it'd be faster to start from scratch. I keep a ghosted copy of the OS and basic apps so reinstalling is pretty straightforward for me. Have you tried going back to an earlier restore point and trying the install. You did run the Nero 8 Clean Tool, correct?
I ran Nero 8 clean tool first. Then I ran Nero 7 clean tool everytime I reinstalled nero 7. I'll try to download another version of nero 7. I have 7.9, not 7.10. I tried Roxio, but I always end up using Nero anyway. It is better when you get it to work. Thanks for the kind reply.
Control Panel. At the left, Other Control Panel Options. Then you see Nero BurnRights. Radio button to Everyone. Restore Burn Rights. How little did I know.
Holy cow, that's obscure. Must have originally been installed to not be available for all users, I guess.
