Hi, I hope someone can help. I recently upgraded my old PC to a new 3.16 Dual Core with 4 gig of RAM running Vista 32. I installed Nero 8 on the new PC and updated to the latest version. Now when I try to make a movie in Vision 5 I don't get any audio. This was never a problem on my old PC. When I import the video files i get the following message: "The project could not be opened because not all the necessary licenses have been activated. Please follow the instructions on the screen to activate your license. After the license has been successfully activated, please restart the application and try again." I don't get any on screen instructions apart from the update available message which I've done and my copy of Nero 8 is fully licenced. This is driving me nuts! All I use Nero Vision for is putting together DVDs of our twin boys so I can send to their Grandparents. Can anyone help please?
Is your Nero legit? Looks like Nero think it's "pirated". You'll need to get Nero 8 Clean Tool http://www.nero.com/enu/tools-utilities.html#tab4 to completely wipe out and uninstall Nero from your computer, restart your system, then have CCleaner clean out the rest. Now try to reinstall Nero 8 back on. NOTE: don't have Add/Remove to uninstall Nero 7, 8 or 9, always use it's correct "Clean Tool" to wipe them first, then have CCleaner do the rest. Once you've installed Nero into your system, its hidden files stayed inside your machine, so regardless of how many time you've uninstall and reinstall, it won't work - it's thinking it's "pirated". Unless you clean it with it's Clean Tool, then CCleaner to completely wipe 'em out and do it fresh again. Have you tried these?
Hi Alkohol Many thanks for your response. My copy of Nero is legit so not sure why Nero would think it's pirated. I'd actually just done an uninstall (again) before I read your reply so I'll re install then try your solution. Thanks again. I'll let you know how I go.
Hi again I've uninstalled using the clean tool and run CCleaner and I still have the same problem. When I right click on the video clip and open properties it says I have no Audio Stream. The audio is there when I open these files in Windows Media Player but it's not coming through into Nero. I've had a look at the Audio format as you suggested and it says "stereo" which is greayed out. This would be correct as I don't have an internal audio card. I use and external Audio/Midi interface for music production. I've installed using the same licence number that I paid about AU$100 for and had always worked fine on my old XP system. Could this be a Vista issue? One other thing that could be a factor was that when I had my new PC built (it's custom made) it came with Nero Essentials already installed. I uninstalled that befreo I installed Nero 8. Could this be part of my problem? I've tried to contact Nero directly but so far had no response. I'm not even sure my message went through from the support section on the website. I'm becoming very disillusioned with this product but I paid good money for it so would really appreciate if anyone can help me fix it.
Honestly, I don't know what to tell you if your license is paid and legit. However, that's what I've always did mine, have Nero's Clean Tool to "uninstall", then have CCleaner do the rest and reinstalled. Maybe you should contact Nero and yes it could be Vista issue. Search the forum for related Nero & Vista. I'm using WIN XP SP2 and everything seem to be working fine for me. Good luck..!!
Thanks again. I have sent another message to Nero and this time it went through. I got an auto reply which hopefully won't be the only one I get. I really wanted to get a DVD put together before xmas so I could send to my parents back in Scotland. I'm in Australia so they don't get to see the kids very often. Maybe I'll just hook up the old pc and use that until I get a solution. Pain in the ass though!
Any news from Nero yet? Or maybe it's Vista? Have you tried it on your old system to see if you'll get a success.
Hi Alkohol I did get a response from Nero and I now have to give a detailed account of what I'm trying to do and also take screenshots of the messages that pop up. I'll not get a chance to do any of that until the weekend. The same with setting up the old pc. I'll let you know. Cheers
Just to let you know I fired up the old PC and everything worked fine! The same mpeg files are imported into the project with audio intact! The response I got from Nero was basically useless. All they said was that Nero had to have access to the internet so that the licences could be activated. I'm at the point of cutting my losses and buying another piece of software. Any recommendations are welcome.
