I am having a roblem with nero vision 5 - no sound. I recorded files with dv type1 with nero vision last year with version 7 nero. Now when I try to play back with nero7 vision v5 there is no sound. I converted the files to type2 but no difference. I feel it s a codec problem but I have tried installing the K-lite codec pack but am lost as to what more I can do. If I import a vob file which has 5.1 it plays sound no prob but stereo sound froma dv file or even an uncompressed 16bit 44.1 wav file doesn't playback - just silence and sometimes a low crackling. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
i want to help but am abit confused here? did you kake a dvd last year that was ok playing on pc and stand alone players to TV? and you tried this dvd again a year later and theres no sound? does it only have 5.1 on it? so whatevers playing it must be 5.1 or set to play 5.1
I recorded into the PC from a Sony DV camera in format dv-type1. I was editing the movie with other type1 DV files and the stereo sound was working fine. I was able to import CD quality wav files and they worked as background music. Now, however, in Nero 8 (aka nero vision 5) the video plays but there is no sound, no backgorund music either. I imported dolby-city.vob (the cool start sequence of many movies with 5.1 sound and the helicopter) that plays great with 5.1 sound so I know that the sound is coming out from vision5 - just ther is no sound when playing dv files. I tried converting to dv type2 but no difference.
2 things install the panasonic dv codec just to make sure http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Panasonic_DV_Codec.htm check nero/toolkits/control center/licences see what plugins you have loaded
I tried the panasonic plugin but no difference. I checked licenses - I have the multichannel plugin etc. all registered. Weird thing is that I can play the files in Nero showtime with sound type1 and type2 but not in nero-vision5 - just video only. WMP also plays the files with sound, no problem. I'm going to re-install Windows from scratch this week but I was hoping not to if a solution could be found.
When the video is playing in vision5, and there is no sound, I CAN hear sound for a brief instant when resizing the program window - very weird.
You can try this...open NeroVision, click on MORE...then Default Video Options...then DVD-Video and see if the Audio Format is checked to Auto or such If you are capturing your video from a Recorder through NeroVision then try this Make DVD...DVD Video...Capture Video...then configure ...DVD Video and then select your Audio Format and then ck\lick OK
I have also been having this trouble for the last few months, and have tried many things to resolve, including wiping and reloading windows XP, but still no luck. I've spoken with Nero's support folks, but have not found the cure for this yet. I am trying to record dvd's of tv shows that I've captured from a tv tuner card as .mpg files, the video comes through fine in Vision 5, but no sound. I can play the .mpg files in Showtime 4 and Windows Media Player fine, with sound, so not sure why Vision 5 is having a problem. I download the latest updates for Nero 8, and am currently running the 6/2/08 release (8.3.2.1) Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.
had a quick read. most likely audio codec missing. you most likely encoded it in ac3. basically, look for a free ac3 decoder. app name : ac3filter alternatively, powerdvd 8 supports many audio types including ac3. other popular codecs are divx and xvid. these are video codecs but may be audio decoders also.
I happened to be checking Nero's support site last night and apparently they were updating the site with a new Nero 8 patch. I was able to download the new patch and install it and now the sound works with slide shows! What's weird is that their site is not showing the new patch now!?! I'll have to post the version on this post later today.
OK... this is weird. I just checked their support site again, and now they show the latest Nero 8 update as version 8.3.6.0 - 188 MB (197.306.008 bytes), posted on 7/14/08. Good luck getting the patch downloaded!
I've found a solution !!! and it's one you aren't necessarily going to like. OK, so Nero vision 4 was working sweet and I could hear sound fine. After installing Nero Vision 5 aka Nero 8, then no sound. The answer is to upgrade your processor. I had a Athlon 2600 XP and upgraded to an Intel Dual Core 2.6GHz and reinstalled windows xp. Now nero vision 5 is working perfectly. An unanswered question remains, is it the reinstall of windows or the new processor. As others have tried reinstalling windows I suggest that Nero vision 5 needs more processor power to work so is probably more ineffecient or is optimised for newer processors. Hope this helps
re installing nero should have fixed it considering its a nero product your using. but if it didn't then yes, it's the dual core your just bought. it's like powerdvd 8, some dvds crash on the slower computer but work fine on the newer one. but all dvds play with powerdvd 7 on both pcs it's the cpu power buddy.
