Well, I can't really recalled if NVE 3 has the same "Options and Tabs" as Nero Vision 4. Yes, it's been that long. So if you have the same "options", then try to select the 5.1 English Dolby.

When using Nero Vision, make sure to set to: Highest Quality, 2 Passes VBR to encode, Audio to 5.1 Dolby. To do this, click on MORE, Video Options in prior to the "transcoding" process. I've been using this setup and its quality looks good so far. Look at pic. for reference.

    alkohol,

Is there a reason you recommend "Dolby Digital AC-3 5.1" audio format instead of say "Dolby Digital AC-3 2.0" for increased compatibility or does it not matter, from your experience?

The Dolby Digital (AC-3) 5.1 is better than the AC-3 2.0 in my opinion. My 55" Widescreen SONY HDTV comes with a TruSurround built in so it's better with the Dolby Digital 5.1, it's my preference. However, the choice is yours.
