For the past few months I have quit burning data dvds and stuck to films, but now that I have a hispeed internet connection again, I need to clear up some room off my hardrive, but am not able to. Whenever I attempt to burn a Data DVD with Nero it will fail at about 27, 28, or 29 percent. An ISO won't get past 1 percent and they freeze up all other programs. I am forc ed to unplug my external hardrive before anything will work again. I can't even restart until this takes place. I was hoping someone might be able to help me out. From lurking a bit I see some people have luck with firmware updates. Does anyone think this might be what I need? I have an HP model computer, that runs pretty well otherwise. I would appreciate any advice anyone may have so that I could get my system burning Data DVDs once more. I should also mention that I just switched from the Nero Express that came with my burner to Nero Rom version 7.2.3.2b, it has informed me to reboot, so I am abotu to do that, but figured I should post here first. Will check back shortly.

alright, didn't mean any offense, have uninstalled it and am following your directions now, just don't know if it will make any difference since I never even used 7.2.3.2b. I had trouble with an older version.

A lot of the Nero7 versions are "buggy". we have found that the most stable one is 7.0.8.2, if your problem still exists after the change over, then post a Nero log, found here

Nero 7 history log location: Program Files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.tx

One data dais burned successfully. One Iso attempt as we speak. Will test a direct DVD copy then try my cd-drive, that one has been on the fritz as well since this one stopped working. But so far so good, thanks so much!

everything seems to be working, but it does take me two and a half hours to burn and verify a data dvd, is that normal?
