    Can someone please help!!!
I've had to re-install Win Xp and now I can't use nero with Lite on DVDRW SOHW-812S. I've never had this problem before. I use DVD Shrink to rip the files. I've been reading forums after forums for some tips on how to fix it and I've done the following.

    1) Dowloading Adaptec ASPI (460) as it was not installed on my puter.
    2) I've downloaded the nero ASPI aswell and installed it.
    3) I've upgraded my Lite on firmware

It still won't burn, nero just keeps saying burning failed.
Bellow is the error message. Please I would appreciate some advice.

ypor logfile's incomplete, post LAST section of your Nero log, which is in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log, but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar

so far i can see your Nero is too old, update to 6.6.0.16, but also paste correct logfile,,,

    I looked in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log
but could not find a nerohistory.og it doesn't exist. The error I pasted above is what comes up everytime I try to burn.
Also someone told me to upgrade my driver for lite-on. Is this different to upgrading the firmware. I am a beginner at this but I do try to read up as much as I can, but I just can't seem to fix this problem. Any more suggestions would be appreciated.

PS - I will try to upgrade nero, but do you think this is the reason why it's failing to burn?
Thanking you for your feedback in advance.

the logfile must be there because Nero is installed in the normal place, as stated above in your partial logfile above....

search your system for nerohistory.* and paste LAST section of it here. The way to tell the sections apart is to look for this line "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

    Hey Creaky

Just wanted to say thanks for your help. I decided to re-install nero and upgraded to the latest version and all is working again.
I am extremely HAPPY with the results. When it wasn't working I tried using 1Click DVD Copy to make backups of my DVD's but I prefer to use DVD shrink with Nero like I always have in the past. Many thanks for taking the time to assist a newbie. Much appreciated.
I was hisitant to upgrade my firmware as I was informed to leave it alone if it's working okay, but decided to go for it when all was failing, but I guess it didn't really do much good because it didn't really fix my burning problem. Your advise to upgrade worked like a charm. It's great what you and the afterdawn team are doing!! Thanks again for helping. Enjoy your day!

One last thing - do I need to upgrade my DVD burner driver? I'm using Win XP and after doing some reading found that XP should automatically pick up the driver and I don't need to install it, besides I can't find the updated version for my burner. Only found the firmware, which I am told is different to the driver. Please clarify if you get time. Thanking you!

no worries, you're quite welcome. as to the 'driver' for the actual burner, these days it's academic, so let XP just do it's thing and enjoy burning...

    tweak & burn
