Ok, I recently purchased a new computer and burner. I am familiar with the dvd backup process, and have done a few backups with nero in the past. My problem now is, I tried to do a backup using a FujiFilm DVD+R DL, but it keeps telling me that the disc I put in is unwritable? It actually reads something like : Media Requested : DVD+R DL Media Provided : DVD+R DL ???? My DVD Recorder is a DVD+/-RW 16x Double Layer Multiformat Drive and will burn a 4.7g backup no problem. I even selected the size of disk in nero to 8.5gb but nothing. Is that not what I need? What am I doing wrong? Is there a patch or something I need to use? Any help is greatly appreciated. PS. This site is great, tons of excellent information here. Adiktid.
first of all, need the BRAND and MODEL # of your actual dvd burner drive, i have a feeling that your firmware is NOT up to date which is causing you this issue...if your firmware is TOO OLD (not updated), your drive does not have the ability to properly recognize/read/write "newer" dvd media~ in YOUR case being the dvd+r DL media~ i can help u further once i know EXACTLY what drive you are using~ docTY~
kivory666: Thanks so much for your help. I googled the model number for my dvd burner, turns out my firmware was out of date. Updated it with an available patch and everything works great now! Thanks again. Appreciate the help. Adiktid
The best DL media I've used is Verbatim DVD+R DL -- this is top notch media. Firmware is a must, especially for burning DVD+R DL media. *NOTE: don't multi-task, don't play with your computer, try to free up more memories, disable any unnecessary running programs in prior to burning.
