    I have 3 computers in my house and have Nero Ultra 7 installed on all 3 of them.

    Question is when I go to burn on one of the computers starting with the Nero Recode option and so on, I put in the source movie and it scans through it all right.

    But when I get to the last page where you click on burn speed and then on the bottom right click on "burn". Well the writing speed section is whited out so that I can't input a number there.
    And I know that when this happens it won't burn a disk for me at the end of everything. I know this from experience.

    Question: How to I get rid of the whited out writing speed problem.
    The movies that I want to burn will burn no problem on the other 2 computers; but , this computer gives me a problem of writing speed being whited out so that I can't enter info and it won't burn.
    Do I have to remove Nero Ultra 7 and then re install the program?

    Is there blank DVD media in the burner when you start nero? I have had similar problems with selecting write speed when there isn't a disc in the burner.

    If Nero doesn't recognize your disk then the write speeds are non selectable! the difference with your other two computers may be the burners recognizing your blank media and the 3rd computer doesn't recognize your media! soooooo Nero blanks out the write speeds. check your firmware for that drive and make sure it's up to date:

    Nero 7 must be looking at my DVD burner because when I go in recode it spends the full minute doing the analysis of the movie in question.
    But, when I get to the final page all of a sudden it whites out the write speed on me and I can't do anything.
    I downloaded the latest firmware for my Pioneer dvd burner; but it doesn't stop the burn speed from being whited out on the last set up screen.
    I'm wondering if I should remove Nero 7 and then re install it. Maybe that would fix things.

    as I said before .... and I guess you don't understand what I meant:
    which means [bold] the blank DVD media![/bold]
    we are not talking about your burner and the DVD that you are trying to copy! we are talking about the [bold]blank media-the blank DVD that you want to write to[/bold] so it doesn't matter that Nero is doing it's analysis of your project from the DVD that's in your burner.... it's when it does everything and you put in a blank DVD it is THEN that Nero is not recognizing your blank media.... so it's not giving you any write speeds! that's what I am trying to tell you. Use better media..... what kind of disk are you trying to write to? the brand of disk and whether it's a -R or a +R disk and what speed is the disk (4x,8x,16x)? what is the make and model # of your burner so I can look up it's capabilities? with a little more info we can give you better advise.

    @boffo,

    Maybe it's because you are using a PIRATED version of Nero
