Nero5.5.10.7 + illegal media error

    I'm trying to back up my movies.
    I've tried both dvdxcopy and riper then nero.

    i have the sony 500ax

    I'm using accu dvd-r .

    nero: The burn finishes, it says 100% and writing lead-out. It just hangs there. after like 30 mins after it says "illegal media error"

    xcopy : again it hangs at 100%, and it the drive locks. i cant eject the DVD. I have to reboot.

    Even after the above sometimes the DVD plays well. 1-3 DVDs work

    Any thoughts?

    What brand of dvd-r's are you using. Cheap brands have horriable results.

    I had the same probel make sure your source drive is setup as slave. Also if you still have an error try using your dvd-r drive as the surce drive if still a problem the disk is probly bad quality!

    I have the Sony DRU500a and had the very same problems burning with Nero. Upgraded to 1.0f firmware and the 'invalid media' problems when burning the lead out went away.

    I have used both Intenso and Traxdata DVD+R media with no problems since the upgrade.
