Hello, I would like to ask about NeroBurning writing speed - before Windows XP re-installation it worked just fine, but after that, the speed dropped tremendously, now it takes an hour to make a DVD with just a 700-800MB info on it. Also, it keeps damaging 90% of CDs, and about 60% DVDs that I'm trying to burn. Or, if it doesn't fail during burning, the DVD won't play most of the times. Maybe I'm missing some drivers or something else? Thanks in advance.
Check the burner to see if DMA is enabled. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038 Tmpgenc
try defrag the hdd before you burn to disc also don't burn at the fastest speed, burn at the slowest or a slower speed. Its necessary for the burning software buffer to remain around 100% till the burn is done. In other words the hdd read speed can't keep up to the burner write speed due to fragmentation of the files you want to burn to disc. There for a burn will drop constantly. And of course as attar stated DMA enabled find that probably in the bios setup
Yes, I would also suggest you to check the burner to see if DMA is enabled. Thay may be the issue. No big deal.
