Hi there, I'm a newbie, have successfully backed a couple of DVDs though. But... the Burn button is greyed out and I can't figure out how I managed to get it to work previously. The only way that the "DVD-Video Files" button on the first screen is available is if I select "Image Recorder (DVD)" from the "Which recorder would you like to use selection?" All the other options don't give me the DVD Video Files capability. I'm Win XP, Nero Express 6 Ver 6.3.1.25 It's probably something simple, bear with me! Andre
I found the key and re-entered it, got "key is already present". Oh here's the log of the last successful backup: Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.68, size=160016 bytes, created 7/22/2004 4:33:44 PM Nero version: 6.3.1.25 (Nero Express) Recorder: <DVDRW IDE1004> Version: 0151 - HA 1 TA 1 - 6.3.1.25 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <DVDRW IDE1004 >Version: 0151 - HA 1 TA 1 - 6.3.1.25 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : Maxtor 5T060H6 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On DiskPeripheral : WDC WD1200JB-32EVA0 atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : LG CD-RW CED-8120B atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: Off CdRomPeripheral : DVDRW IDE1004 atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === LG CD-RW CED-8120B F: CDRom0 DVDRW IDE1004 D: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 40894464 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 255MB (261424kB) Free physical memory: 120MB (123836kB) Memory in use : 52 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Static Write Speed Table: 0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 30.11.2005 UDF/ISO compilation 8:22:20 PM #1 Phase 112 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1855 DVD-Video files reallocation started 8:22:21 PM #2 Phase 114 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1855 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 8:22:21 PM #3 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 6083 Iso document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : FALSE Write : TRUE Finalize CD : TRUE Multisession : FALSE Burning mode : DAO Mode : 1 ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet :FALSE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : FALSE Allow more than 255 characters in path : FALSE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 8:22:21 PM #4 Phase 111 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1855 DVD-Video files sorted 8:22:21 PM #5 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 126 Reader running 8:22:21 PM #6 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 124 Writer DVDRW IDE1004 running 8:22:21 PM #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3899 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 8:22:21 PM #8 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3899 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 8:22:22 PM #9 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3152 Turn on Disc-at-once, using DVD media 8:22:22 PM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 247 Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB) Last address to be written: 2286191 (508:02.41, 4465MB) 8:22:22 PM #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 259 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 8:22:22 PM #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2162 Recorder: DVDRW IDE1004, Media type: DVD+R Disc Manufacturer ID: YUDEN000, Media Type ID: T02, Product revision number: 0 Disc Application Code: 0, Extended Information Indicators: 3 8:22:22 PM #13 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 420 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= 8:22:22 PM #14 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 813 Setup items (after recorder preparation) 0: TRM_DATA_MODE1 (CTransferItem) 2 indices, index0 (150) not provided original disc pos #0 + 2286192 (2286192) = #2286192/508:2.42 relocatable, disc pos for caching/writing not required/required, no patch infos -> TRM_DATA_MODE1, 2048, config 0, wanted index0 0 blocks, length 2286192 blocks [DVDRW IDE1004 ] -------------------------------------------------------------- 8:22:22 PM #15 Text 0 File ThreadedTransferInterface.cpp, Line 984 Prepare recorder [DVDRW IDE1004 ] for write in CUE-sheet-DAO DAO infos: ========== MCN: "" TOCType: 0x00; You shouldn't choose 'image recorder' ,it's better if you chose the actual burner, it'll be listed as the Burner's model number and it will have DVD in brackets. You are using a real old version of Nero, current version is 6.6.0.18! Your Firmware is also behind, current version is 0251, here is a link to a place where you can update your f/w: http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1653 Your DMA is off, here is where you can go to learn how to fix that: http://www.burstcopy.com/dma/xp/ You 256MB is too little as most here will tell you, so don't multi-task. It doesn't look like you've been multi-tasking, as it's only 52%. You are writing too close to the edge, write no further than 4300MB, 4360 if you really want.
Thanks for the response. There are no firmware upgrades for the MicroAdvantage 4DVDRW-B13 at the Firmware Page. I had previously gone the MicroAdvantage website and upgraded the firmware to the latest they had - "Windows - Firmware Upgrade: Version 151" I made the DMA settings. Yeah I should upgrade my memory, but the kicker is that I had this working, had burned a few DVDs. What I finally did was uninstall Nero Express and upgraded to Nero 6.6.0.8, now I'm back in business. "You are writing too close to the edge, write no further than 4300MB, 4360 if you really want." How do I make this setting? Thanks for the help Andre
