    Hi there,

I'm a newbie, have successfully backed a couple of DVDs though. But... the Burn button is greyed out and I can't figure out how I managed to get it to work previously. The only way that the "DVD-Video Files" button on the first screen is available is if I select "Image Recorder (DVD)" from the "Which recorder would you like to use selection?" All the other options don't give me the DVD Video Files capability.

I'm Win XP, Nero Express 6 Ver 6.3.1.25

It's probably something simple, bear with me!

    Andre

I found the key and re-entered it, got "key is already present". Oh here's the log of the last successful backup:

You shouldn't choose 'image recorder' ,it's better if you chose the actual burner, it'll be listed as the Burner's model number and it will have DVD in brackets.

You are using a real old version of Nero, current version is 6.6.0.18! Your Firmware is also behind, current version is 0251, here is a link to a place where you can update your f/w:

    http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1653

Your DMA is off, here is where you can go to learn how to fix that:

    http://www.burstcopy.com/dma/xp/

You 256MB is too little as most here will tell you, so don't multi-task. It doesn't look like you've been multi-tasking, as it's only 52%.

You are writing too close to the edge, write no further than 4300MB, 4360 if you really want.

    Thanks for the response.

There are no firmware upgrades for the MicroAdvantage 4DVDRW-B13 at the Firmware Page. I had previously gone the MicroAdvantage website and upgraded the firmware to the latest they had - "Windows - Firmware Upgrade: Version 151"

    I made the DMA settings.

Yeah I should upgrade my memory, but the kicker is that I had this working, had burned a few DVDs.

What I finally did was uninstall Nero Express and upgraded to Nero 6.6.0.8, now I'm back in business.

"You are writing too close to the edge, write no further than 4300MB, 4360 if you really want." How do I make this setting?

    Thanks for the help
    Andre
