- i've EDITED OUT your serial number - DMA needs to be ON, see kurtp21's replies near the end of this one - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/231433 - 512MB is what i consider the minimum for dvd work. you should get more memory, and for now you're gonna have to dig deep to close down as much as you can to free up more memory - what can i say, these are some of the most awful atrocious, utter rubbish dvd media you can buy, and you bought them! (sorry but they're awful, glance at my signature where CMC discs play the starring roles). try this link here - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/232406 - see my 2nd comment from top - try 4x - CDRALW2K.SYS is part of Roxio. try uninstalling Roxio (doesn't always play well with Nero), then you might need to fully remove using Roxio Zapper - http://www.microadvantage.net/utilities
sorry to be an idiot but i can't find how or figure out how to turn dma on or off....the link you provide ..."comcast.." doesn't work for me it says page no longer available? so i looked it up as well as called dell and they nor the internet pages can provide any asistance with how to turn it on or off?? i have windows 2000 but cannot figure this out ...pllleassseee help, no one has a clue how to do it?? thanx
@ftball12 If you can't find on the site creaky provided, then try the below guide. I made that one just for Newbies that's having DMA issues. ((To enable DMA back ON by "uninstalling" its driver “for Win XP users” by alkohol)) Here are some helpful pictures for references. A) on "DESKTOP" right click on "MY COMPUTER," left click on "PROPERTIES" B) left click on "HARDWARE," left click on "DEVICE MANAGER" C) left click on + sign of IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers D) double left click on either “Primary” or “Secondary IDE Channel” E) left click on "DRIVER," left click on "UNINSTALL" You will see a "Warning: you are about to uninstall this device from your system," just click "OK," now "SHUTDOWN" or "Restart" your computer F) once you restarted your computer, Windows should automatically detect your DVD burner’s drive and re-install it for you. That's it...easy as smoking!! **NOTE: do these steps only if the above process failed to bring DMA back on, or you can do exactly like the above steps, except this time you "Uninstall" it from the “DVD/CD-ROM Drives” ****at Device Manager**** (A) left click on + sign of DVD/CD-ROM Drives (B) double left click on your DVD burner or your DVD-ROM drive (C) click on "DRIVER," "UNINSTALL," "OK" and then "Shutdown" or "Restart" your computer. That's it... easy as smoking!!! Enjoyed it..!!
i can't go through those steps cuz i don't have things in my device manager called primary and secondayr controllers. all mine says is IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and i click on the plus sign next to it and when it expands the choices are Intel(r) 82801 Ultra ATA Controller or then there are two under that as choices that both say the same thing, Ultra ATA Channel. upon clicking on any of those there is no choice for advanced settings or anything that mentions or talks about DMA, the tabs i have to pick from are GENERAL, DRIVER, AND RESOURCES??? sorry to does that mean there is something installed wrong with my drives or something.....sorry to have these problems but there is just nothing like what alkhol sent in those pics in the first part of his message?? thank you and please dont' give up!!
i won't re-read this entire thread as the thread itself is so large it's killing my pc, plus i just dissected the logfile as it was tagged on the end of another thread, so i'll just copy/paste my answers here... @ftball12 - too old, as 3.1.0.21 is the latest version from Nero 6.x - http://www.nero.com/nero6/en/nero-up.php. However your problems the thread don't appear to be Nerovision at fault, but other stuff like crap media, DMA settings, lack of memory etc which i'll detail now.... - i've edited out your serial number - DMA needs to be ON, see his link for getting DMA back ON (kurtp21 saved the day in that link and he's in this thread now so hopefully he can advise you easier than me copy/pasting from that thread - http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/231433 - 512MB is what i consider the minimum for dvd work. you should get more memory, and for now you're gonna have to dig deep to close down as much as you can to free up more memory - what can i say, these are some of the most awful atrocious, utter rubbish dvd media you can buy, and you bought them!
