    Hello!

I am having a problem with Nero Vision Expres 3.1.0.21.

When I try to burn to one of the above DVD+Rs, I get a pop-up telling me to insert a compatible disc.

Nero Tech Support told me to uninstall and re-install.

    Tried that - same issue.

The Verbatim Digital Movie DVD is made expressly for burning movie DVDs.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks ahead of time!

    Bob

    Hello rlmmidas
See if you have a failed burn log for this to post.
    Look here: program files>ahead>nero>nerohistory

If there is one post it just be sure to edit out your serial # - usually begins w/ 1A, 1C or 5C.

If not what's the make and model of the burner?

You have a few logs here so edit out the serial in the others. It begins w/ 1A and is under this ====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======

Check your transfer mode - all should be set to DMA. Here's a guide to get you in the right direction:

Might want to take down the burn speed to the rated speed of the verbs - 8x.

Is the only time you get this error when you use the verbatim?

For Vision may need to make it a 2 step process. Set it burn to image recorder. You'll get a pop after transcoding to pick a folder to save it too. This will create a nrg file. Use Imgburn (free) to burn it.
    http://imgburn.com

    Let's see how that goes.

    Thanks, Binkie!

Interestingly, your second reply didn't show up for a few days . . .

Anyway, I checked the DMA mode - the two 80 gig drives are set to DMA 5 and the DVD [on the secondary channel] is set to DMA 2 [Ultra 33] according to Device Manager - wonder why NV3 sees DMA "off". Both channels are "greyed out" so I can't change them.

The 250 gig drive is on a Promise Ultra133 PCI card - I assume it is running at 133 capabilities . . .

I will reduce burn speed and try it but . . .

I had NO problems with this until I allowed Nero's web site to 'upgrade' my initial CD install - the Verbatim Digital Movie DVDs worked great before the upgrade. Afterward, I found that Nerovision wanted A LOT OF DVD SPACE to burn a DVD compliant MPG that [in my opinion] should have fit on a single DVD. The original version of Nero was 6.3.11.3 and NVE was NVE 2 but I'm not sure what version.

I uninstalled everything / ran Nero's Clean Tool And their tool that cleans the Registry / reinstalled from the CD / upgraded to Nero 6.6.0.18 and NVE 3.1.0.21 - that's where I am right now.

NVE works OK with Verbatim 94930 DVD+Rs - just won't accept the Digital Movie DVDs - maybe I'm beatin' a dead horse but it DID work OK before.

Hope I don't have to reintall WinXP and start from ground level.

Also, BTW, I can't figure out how to edit my post of the logs . . .

    Thanks again,
    Bob

    Hi Bob
To edit out the post just look to the right of the post and you'll see this [IMG]
Click on it to edit the post.

The dma thing is okay - Nero doesn't report the mode correctly when using nvidia, raid etc. Best to check and make sure.

No I don't think you need to do a reformat - it's only the Digital Movie DVD's that give the problem so it may just be a nero 'glitch' or maybe a few bad discs (?).
So another option may be to do a clean install again. This time add the driver cleaner & registry checker. Uninstall Nero, run the clean tools than just reinstall 6.6.0.18 from these links:
    driver cleaner & registry checker
    clean tool
    package 1
    package 2 (recode & vision)

Or do the 2 step process - can save to the image recorder and use Nero or ImgBurn (may be a better option w/ these discs).

Try that and keep us posted!
