I have tried using nerovision express to create a dvd from 5 hours of avi clips with animated menus. I have created the project fone but when it comes to buring dvd or hard drive i am experiencing problems. It says it will take 5 hours or so but when i return in 2-3 hours time while it is transcoding all the avi files the programme shuts down and goes away and there is no movie created.

Any ideas why this is happening and how i can go about sorting it please??

I never use Nero VIsion Express to encode a movie, so I cannot help you there. I would suggest getting a separate program to create .vob or Demuxed mpeg2 video and DVD compliant audio streams.

I use TMPGEnc to create .m2v files (mpeg-2 video stream) and .wav files. I then convert the .wav into Dolby .AC3. I then use either DVD Maestro or DVDlabpro to Author the DVD.

Another method that you can use is avi2dvd (Free by the way). It will create a workable DVD without a menu, but you can import the .vob files into Nero Vision Express and it should not have to Re-Encode. You can then create a menu and use it to burn.

If Nero Vision Express does not have a burning Engine (I only burn to Image Recorder with NVE), then you can create a .nrg image file and use DVD Decrypter to Burn the image.

I am still gettin the problem with nerovision express. It does not finish burning the dvd or saving to hard drive/iso. It just automatically closes after an hour or so.

Can anyone please help. Am I doing something wrong.

siffy I had the same problem, go to Nero's site. they have an update version that fixes that problem. Now there are other things I have to contend with, but at least that problem is gone!
