Hi again! I have created three title sections in my main menu, but when I playback the CD in my DVD player, it will not allow me to navigate to a particular title (film clip). If I press play, the CD starts fine from the first clip. Is this supposed to happen, or should you be able to select whichever film clip you want? thanks, Paul.
When you are on the edit menu page, click on the Automatization selection. This is to designate what is done automatically, according to the readout. Make sure the bottom window says NONE. That should mean the main menu will stay until you click one of the buttons or hit play. Did you try it in NeroVision 4 simulation before you burned it? If so, did the buttons work correctly there? Two more questions, are you using animated buttons and which version of NeroVision 4?
I don't think the buttons are supposed to work when you preview the animation. I just burned a dvd with 2 titles and 3D menu. It seems to work OK if I use the arrow buttons on the remote control to select a button then enter. Forget that, I burned to the image recorder to save a DVD and I do see what I think you are saying. I start the video and the menu shows for about 10 seconds (or whatever you set) and then it starts playing the first video. This was done with a background video but since the option that seems to control this is greyed out when you edit the menus, I will have to experiment further. There were some problems in earlier versions, but it seemed to be fixed in the version just before this one. I will let you know if I find anything else. **************************************** Well, about 6 hours later and 6 different combination of Menu settings, I have made 6 DVD images, one even containing sound, and they all seem to work as advertised. I do not know what happened on the one that got messed up, but right now I can't seem to find the image. More trys tomorrow--let you know.
Well, I am sorry to report I have done several more test runs using different menu configurations and I cannot get it to misbehave. There is one slight chance that downloading the extra content for menu selection might help the problem. If you have not down so, try that. I don't know what else to try, but if I see it again I will post back. http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/NV4content.html
Hi Paul Ver 7 and I think 6.6 When you are in the " Select Menu " section of Nero Vision. Down at the bottom you will see the Button marked " More " In here under " Start Playback with " - choose Menu. In the other section " When finished playing a title " choose Jump to main menu. Not sure if this will correct things or not - but worth a try. You should be able to choose your title when played back on DVD player. At the end of the video it will return you to the menu to choose another. Hope I am reading your first post correctly.
A big thanks to Saltgrass for all your input and the time you have spent on this. I will look at all your advice, and put them to the test soon. Am still struggling with getting the picture quality to behave first, before I burn another CD with menu's (posted in another thread). Much obliged! Also, thanks to Ralph. I never spotted those settings so I will give them a go. Cheers. rgds, Paul.
Hi there, Eventually I got the menu's to work. Thanks very much to all. If any have read my previous threads regarding quality issues I have resolved these as well. SVCD was the key. Final problem. My saved project is in VCD format. Can I change this to SVCD? Rgds, Paul.
Paul What format is your original video file, is it .AVI ? If so, in Nero Vision choose " Make CD " choose " Super Video CD " add your video .AVI and proceed on through the menu & burn procedure. Keep in mind your DVD player must support SVCD, most newer ones do and older players do not. This can be a problem if you are sharing. Why would you not go to DVD - best quality ? Do you have a DVD burner ? or just a CD Writer ? I would not recommend VCD to SVCD, I do not think you will improve the quality unless you go from original format file. I stand to be corrected.
Hi Ralph. My original files are AVI. I have since found out that my DVD player DOES support SVCD and I can now play excellent quality films on it. I was originally burning my files as VCD as I never believed my DVD player would be SVCD compatible, but I have never been happy with the quality of VCD. In any case, I don't have a DVD-RE-WRITER and I wanted to fit a project, I had spent ages on, on one 700mb disk and my only option was VCD. SVCD takes up more space. Anyway, to abridge my reply, I am going to by a DVD-RE-WRITER today so that I can fit my project on DVD's. The thing is, my NVC project was saved as VCD. I have done so much work on it I thought that there may be a conversion utility to convert it to SVCD. Otherwise, I have to start a new project from scratch. Thanks again for replying and sorry for the lengthy message. Rgds, Paul.
Paul From what I can see Nero cannot convert VCD to SVCD. There maybe hope - do a search on Google. Type in. Convert VCD to SVCD. Go ahead and purchase a DVD writer - you will not regret it. Then any future projects you can do right to DVD and share with anyone. SVCD is pretty close to DVD in regards to quality. I like you only had a CD-writer for sometime and produced nothing but .AVI to SVCD for well over a year. My problem was none of my family members had a DVD player that would support my SVCD presentations. So with my new system - a DVD writer was top priority If I come up with something else, I will post here. Best wishes
