I think NVE is permanently broken. It worked great under 6.6. I then upgraded to the current 7, which tended to freeze, so I cleaned it out and went to the stable 7.0.8.2. That gave synch probs, so I cleaned and went back to 6.6. Now even NVE 6.6 has synch problems even though everything was cleaned with the proper tools. Also, the registry mod in the "audio synch" thread below didn't work. I hope I'm not looking at a clean install of all my software.
Uninstall whatever version of Nero you currently have installed, run the Nero6 clean tool,http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html and then run the Nero7 clean tool http://ww2.nero.com/nero7/enu/Nero7_CleanTool.html and then install 7.0.8.2 from here http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845 Once that is done try this, a member has reported success by doing the following
For Nero 6, set your system clock back one month before you reinstall. After reinstalling, re-set your system clock to the current date. When you burn avi to dvd, you will get a pop up saying Nero mpeg-4 codecs have expired. Click cancel then go ahead and burn. Hopefully, you will have no audio sync problem.
Thanks Gwendolin. I did all the cleanings and procedures you suggest before posting this thread. Afterwards, my Norton utilities had to repair over 100 registry entries. I even ran Nero's registry checker beforehand. I also tried the registry mods you mentioned. I had seen those in a previous thread. That did not help. uny529...I will give your method a try. I am a bit skeptical, because Recode, which should be using some of the same MPEG-4 codecs, is working fine.
uny529...I tried your idea. I didn't get the prompt you spoke of. NVE is still out of synch with Nero 6, whereas NVE worked perfectoy before I started messing around with uninstalling N 7 and all the cleans, etc. I am running VOB's through Recode first. The recode files are in snych.
Well...I reinstalled the latest version of Nero 7. The first test shows the synch to be ok now. So, I will just have to work around the sys freeze problems, etc. that came with the upgrade...or until I have time to do a fresh install or find some other software.
