ok i am truly exhausted from thisso im jus gonna briefly explain before i go to bed and pray my problems will be over tommorow. i went to install sony acid which informed me i needed to have .net framework 1.1 installed, so i download it from microsoft and double click the installer, it extracts some stuff then windows installer pops up and says preparing to install. that hangs for about 20 or 30 seconds untill i get an error message says "microsoft net framework setup failed. if this problem continues contact product support services" so then i check out event viewer, i see a warning from "msiInstaller", it reads "Failed to connect to server. Error: 0x800706BA". so next i download and install from microsoft windows installer 3.1 but that is no help. so then i suspected maybe i disabled a service ages ago that is needed so i set all services that were disabled to manual but still no change. thats about it i think, on top of hours of google and scanning forums, ok im going to bed thank you for reading my troubles, goodnight.
Try using Windows Update to install .Net 1.1. I had update issues for the security patches when I used the install package..and that all went away letting WU do the installation. (it will be in the Software section)
