hi i am trying to reinstall xp on an msi netbook, after spending some time with methods from here, there and everywhere and no joy i came up with my own idea of mounting an xp.iso on to a usb flash.sounds good to me lol. is this the way to go or am i barking up the wrong tree,i did try other methods of using a bootable flash but i couldn't get the xp info to go on to the stick, this could be because it was the wrong format or the wrong info but i couldn't find any clear info on how to do this. thanks in advance
Well when I had to do this I used this tutorial: http://www.boot-land.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=4900 As you can see it's quite lengthy ahah. I went out and bought this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812232002 - It allows me to just hook up any sata/ide drive (optical drive or hdd) and boot from it. Probably the most useful pc "tool" I've ever bought. Strongly recommend.
why didn't you do a system recovery as 2nd partition of your hd is the recovery partition to reload windows?
It wasn't my netbook. And the OS had been destroyed. I would never buy a netbook personally. No need for one.
