I was curious if anyone knew of a way to actually connect to the other coputers on my network. When I say connect, I mean have acces to their harddrive or the ability to manipulate the actions on the other computer on the network wirelessly. Both Sony Vaio's are currently running on the same wireless router plugged into one modem.

You have to set up the shared folders or drives. To manipulate the files on shared drives, set the option "allow network users to change my files"

I believe you have to connect them thru the router, not the internet connection.

(in XP) go to Control Panel > Network Setup Wizard and run the Wizard on each computer. don't worry about making the disk it tells you to make or anything. Once that is done, reboot each PC and then move the files that you want to share to the "Shared Files" folder in "My Computer". Easy as that.

click to just finish the wizard.
yes, remote desktop and file sharing are two very different things. file sharing is easy to set up. remote desktop is a good deal more complicated.
once you have file sharing set up, you will have access to the files stored on the other computer, provided you have them either in the "Shared Files" folder, or have set a folder to be shared.
