I was curious if anyone knew of a way to actually connect to the other coputers on my network. When I say connect, I mean have acces to their harddrive or the ability to manipulate the actions on the other computer on the network wirelessly. Both Sony Vaio's are currently running on the same wireless router plugged into one modem.
You have to set up the shared folders or drives. To manipulate the files on shared drives, set the option "allow network users to change my files"
you could also google "remote desktop" so you can control the other computer from the one. this is something from microsoft on the subject, provided you have XP, since you didn't specify: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/tools/rdclientdl.mspx
i got one desktop computer which is connected to Router Directly and got laptop which is connected to Internet with wireless connection and i want to Connect both computer remotly thought my internet connection. can u help Me plz
yeah now i connected Both computers with the router so can u tell me how to share files between them ? i can't see laptop on my desktop computer and can't see desktop on my laptop in My Network Places.
(in XP) go to Control Panel > Network Setup Wizard and run the Wizard on each computer. don't worry about making the disk it tells you to make or anything. Once that is done, reboot each PC and then move the files that you want to share to the "Shared Files" folder in "My Computer". Easy as that.
on laptop i can see my desktop computer but i can't get into it and on desktop computer if i click on View Workgroup Computer its says i don't have permission for that. and on Desktop computer i can't see Laptop . Thats the problem i am getting and on wizard at the end what i ned to select 1. Create Network Disc 2. Use disk i already have 3. use my XP cd or 4. Just finish the wizard. and do i need to create any new account or something. is sharing files and remote desktop are different?
click to just finish the wizard. yes, remote desktop and file sharing are two very different things. file sharing is easy to set up. remote desktop is a good deal more complicated. once you have file sharing set up, you will have access to the files stored on the other computer, provided you have them either in the "Shared Files" folder, or have set a folder to be shared.
i get this message when i try to run network wizard . if u can't see the picture properly try this link http://img107.imageshack.us/img107/9987/presentation1jp2.jpg
