network adapter has gone

    Hi all hope you are well, Ive just reinstalled windows xp pro on my computer, but now i can not connect to the internet and there is no network adapter showing up in device manager and in network settings its just a blank screen.
    Thank you for any help.

    Do you have any devices with a Yellow question mark in the device manager?

    Make sure that the network adapter is firmly seated in the expansion slot.

    yes theres a yellow question mark in device manager its something todo with audio.I a bit new to this where do i look for expansion slot.thanks.

    don't you have a cd that came with the computer or motherboard?

    No mate got computer off a friend im hoping i can download a cd from mother boards web site if this is possible.

    just the ones missing besides the via 4in 1 chipset driver.

    ok ive got the drivers on a cd but im not sure where to put.cheers.

    i,ve tried that it says windows does not no how to open this file or if i right click on it there is no install option.

    you have to unzip them or extract them thru windows.

    this is what i did i loaded to zip files from cd i unzipped them onto my desk top so i can now look in the files and can see the drivers but am not sure what to do with them there no install option or anything.

    One thing there is a file in the lan driver zip which is a network adapter setup file but when i click on it i get a massage saying can not find proper NIC.
