networking help

    hi
    can anyone point me to an idiots guide of the following.
    i have a laptop running xp and a pc running vista.
    the printeris connected upstairs, i have my wireless router upstairs which i can connect my laptop to with no problems......

    i want to be able to print off my laptop....is this possible\?
    ive tried a few methods off other sites but still cant manage it

    in theory yes you can print remotely from one to the other so long as the serving pc connected to the printer is turned on. Now the gloomy part some printer software don't install the drivers for all versions or require seperate install packages this sux because when it installs the driver to the remote pc it is not the correct driver since they are not on the same operating system and I have not found a way to get the correct driver installed to the remote pc for the correct operating system when this happens.
