I had some problems with my console. it did some wierd noises, especially when trying to play dvd game backups or movies and stuff like that. when i tried cleaning softly the laser and putting some electronics spray on the two metalic pieces that the laser moves on, the noises stoped and both dvd movies and dvd game backups were up and running. BUT BUT BUT BUT from that point on the situation goes like this: the console plays my original games just fine including their videos (.PSS e.t.c. ....). on the other hand when i try to boot these original games's backups, their videos stuck and skip parts of them while trying to synchronise picture with sound. HELP. i use swap magic 3.2 to boot and burn with plextor px-712a. NOTICE: the problem apears both at older burned backups and newly created ones regardless of + - dvd media and i never use no name no label discs. i was playing all my backups just fine before the problems came up. any ideas????

Well did you completely dry the spray before reassembling your PS2? You really should clean the lens with a Q tip and rubbing alcohol. Other that maybe use a can of compressed air to clean the dust off the motherboard and what not. What kind of DVD-R's or DVD+R's are you using? What version is your PS2? How are you burning your backups? Here is the correct method with DVD Decrypter: http://home.earthlink.net/~moderator/id3.html

yo guys. i'm really confused. my backed up games won't play their videos corectly. i recently bought a lot of games so i got down to back them up for safety. well guess what!!!!!! before the problems i had backed up full spectrum warrior (FSW) with record now dx. it worked just fine. same deal with burnout 3. after the apearence of the problems => stucking videos. the videos apearing at FSWs' main menu, skip parts but not the ingame menus. in burnout the videos -most propably the .pss ones- also stuck and skip but the background one in the menus plays just fine. well then i bought burnout 4 and rainbow six lockdown. i backed them up with the decrypter method and they worked just fine. what in the hell is going on????????? i don't have the mood to start rebuilding all my games. just give me some help.

Calm down. Don't worry so much about the motherboard, that isn't the problem. So if I understand you correctly your backups of Rainbow Six and Burnout Revenge work correctly now? If so just make back ups of all your current games with DVD Decrypter. I always recommend it because it's simple, works well, and it's free. If I misunderstood you I'm sorry. If you're still having issues, change media. Try burning slightly slower or faster speeds. Very few games need rebuilt, only like %5 or so. Figure out which PS2 you have: http://www.chipzone.com/versions.cfm Tell me EXACTLY which type of DVD-R's/+R's you're using and what speed you're burning at. Don't freak out yet, usually this is a simple problem.

I agree, it does sound like a media type problem
and knowing some specifics would help.
What brand and speed DVD's are you using?
What speed are you burning them at?
    Are they +R or -R?

yo guys. things are simple and nasty. my ps2: version 7
my media: mostly +R but some supported -Rs too.(rainbow6 and burnout4:-Rs, full spectrum warrior too. )

always have been and always will be burnin' at max speed (curently x8)
as far as media is concerned i 've used MAM +R,TDK +R, SMART BUY + -R AND A LOT MORE.

ok enough with that subject. it's closed from my part, thank you all, and please come and help me at my new thread: "never before seen dual layer games backing up trouble". something tells me that this thread is gonna be up for good.

thanks for cooperation. ohh something else: how do i get a better rank
on this site? you know newbie --> novice --> intermediate --> senior member e.t.c.

It's number of posts. 25=junior member, 100=member, 500=senior member, afterdawn addict=2500. The addict's know their stuff. Since it's based on # of posts, it's a little misleading. A senior member may not be very useful, a newbie may know a lot more than a member, etc. Yeah no "hay how ya doin post's" please.

yes, but please do not just post up any old junk just
to bump up you rank. Some of use here have earned our ranks by
countless hours spent helping people with their problems
Once you learn all the basics you can really up you rank quicker
by being able to answer other peoples questions, the more you know,
the more questions you will be able to answer, and the faster
    you rank will go up.
