ok i have bin softmoding for some time now , and i have never came across this, iam tryin to put a maxtor 200 gig in a friends xbox, i have put this same drive in many xbox's, when i locked the drive useing the linux tools.... everything went fine but for some reason the mod didn't work, when i went to unlock it .. it would not work ... i have the right eeprom i have double checked and i have writen the key down... for some reason it will not let me unlock it.... i have tryed the master password (XBOXSCENE)in atapwd and it doesn't work. iam stumped i check the status and i get this HDD Serial number: ....... HDD firmware revision: YAR41BWO HDD model:....... Security supported: YES Security enabled: YES Security locked: YES <----- this has never said YES ??? plz help Security frozed: NO Security count expired: NO can someone plz shine some light on this plz, could it be the firmware ??
Hi There, I had this problem a few weeks back. The problems I had was down to the PC I was using. It's BIOS (compaq's own) had a security feature that wouldn't let me lock the disk. I ended up pulling out some old pice of crap Pentium II PC with a pheonix bios from the attic and trying it in that and it worked fine.
well thx alot at least someone replyed .... but i know its not mycomputer ... and that sounds like a frozen drive what you are talking about which is not my problem. i have tryed diffrent pcs but the same thing happends... the only thing that i can think of is that the eeprom was corrupt or something
