    Hi everyone.
I've got a brand new PC.
It has Asus M4A78TD-V EVO Mobo.
    Phenom 2 x2 550 BE @3.1 GHZ.
    Transcend Jetram(value memory) DDR3@1333 MHZ JM1333KLU-2G
    LG DVD-R.
    400W power supply (ViP)
I've installed XP SP3 (32-Bit ver, although no problems)
The problem is, it restarts randomly. Often when I try to run
the mo bo supplied PC Probe app. which monitors CPU and other components temp and electricity and some times when in game settings.
also recently when I insert DVD in Drive it starts to read and then everything hangs up. FREEZE. sometimes only mouse works...

So if anyone has any suggestions or anything regarding this issue ar welcome to share their thoughts. Hope to here from you soon. THX.

    Ps. could this be PSU?

    UPDATE!!
Here are the details after rebooting from restart
    Code:
    BCCode : 100000d1 BCP1 : A3828000 BCP2 : 00000002 BCP3 : 00000000
    BCP4 : A942E0D8 OSVer : 5_1_2600 SP : 3_0 Product : 256_1

It could be the PSU, the ram, or the mainboard. I would do get some other PC Probe app to make sure nothing is overheating. If it passes that test, then do a full memory test. If it passes that, try disconnecting the DVD drive and running the system...if this fixes the problem, then you know your power supply is overloaded (you are not using 400W of power, but cheap "400W" power supplies often make less than 200W).

    Thanks KillerBug!
Will you tell me how to do that? (another PC Probe app and full memory test?)
I took out the cheap 200W power supply in cabinet and put in this moderate 400W one. my Mobo has built in Radeon HD4200 card with 28 mb sideport DD3 1333 mhz memory.

As killerbug says you have to try and eliminte possible problems one by one!

I have a asus mobo, it is different to yours but the bios did come with a mem test feature so have a read through your mobo manual and you my find that your board has this feature.

To test for Psu problems you can either disconnect all non essential hardware like your dvd drive, addition HDD if you have one, any lights you may have and any PCI / PCI-E cards you might have installed to reduce power consumption.

    or..

You could just Try a different but know to be working PSU.

In regards to tempretures and how to monitor them without the use of PC Probe, Go for programmes such as Core temp, motherboard monitor, speed fan and so on ...

    Have a read here

    http://www.tech-faq.com/monitor-cpu-temperature.shtml
(am i allowed to post links for information purposes here?)

Lastly i believe that installing the wrong driver for your system by mistake could also result in system restarts, especialy if its a graphics driver. Try removing them one at a time to see if it fixes the problem and if not the just use the roll back driver feature.

This is just my two pennies worth and i just hope to of helped you.

    good luck!

Sometimes fixes to problems come from the strangest places. Seriously though, value memory, a ViP power supply and an Asus motherboard, that PC's a recipe for disaster. I would slowly work your way through replacing that lot if I were you.
