New CD Burner Install

So I bought a new CD-R/RW drive. It is made by memorex, and it is internal. Everything was going to plan, and when I finished installing it in place of my old, burnt out drive, the computer won't boot! I then proceeded to check the jumper-switches, and noticed that the drive that didnt need replacing was set to CS, while the CD-R drive was set to MA.
After what seems like hours of trying every possible combination, I just couldnt get the computer to boot, so now I have no CD-R or DVD-rom drives at all.


Does anyone know what i've done wrong?
If you need any more information I'de be happy to give it.

 

if u remove the cd-rw drive would the pc boot?

 

I just tried that, actually. What happened was when I disconnected the CD-RW drive, it wasnt booting. So then I went ahead and unplugged the DVD-ROM drive. Thats when it booted. So apparently it doesnt boot with any of these connected..:\

 

by "boot" do u mean it doesnt get into the bios or windows just crashes?

 

It wont get to the BIOS screen, it just sits like a vegetable at the startup screen, which in my case is a giant "e", for emachines. After that screen flashes for a moment, then the BIOS should come up for everything else.

 

my guess ide cable change it or switch it

 

Luckily Ive got a spare, Ill tell you how it went in a few minutes.

 

Bah! Nothing happened. I completely swapped out the IDE cable and nothing different happened. I noticed that when I have the computer turned on, it immediately recognizes when I disconnect the drives. It immediately begins to boot as soon as both drives are unplugged.

 

ok plug the cd burner just the cd burner on the ide slot where u have the hard drive conected to c if its the ide slot so unplug the hard drive and the dvd rom and plug in the cd burner in the hard drive ide slot if that fails try plugin in the dvd rom in the hard drive ide slot

 

SEt both ide drives to cable select (cs). THen try rebooting.

 

Hmm, still nothing.
