I just bought a computer with a DVD writer. I bought some DVD-Rs to test it out but I'm completly lost. I would normally find a program to help me do all this but I've been searching for hours and cannot find anything. I have a program called MyDVDPlus by Sonic. I wanted to try and burn a copy of my DVD but it said I needed a DVD-RW, so did I get the wrong discs? Also it was write protected so can I not copy my own movies? thanks for the help
you're using the wrong software to do what you are trying to do. The sonic software that came with your computer is for capturing and editing movie files to burn to DVD. If you want to copy a DVD, you need other software. You need a ripper to copy the movie to you hard drive, and two excellent ones are DVDFab Decrypter or AnyDVD. Then you need a program to encode and burn the movie to a disc. My favorite is called DVD Shrink and is free. Check out the guides section here, and there is a guide you can follow for using Shrink. Google the software and you can easily find it. http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/
