New DVD 16x burner burning at 2.4x

    I replaced my Sony DRu-510a with a DRU 710 and burned a backup. Everything went exactly the same as it had with my 510a, including the burn speed. DRU 710 is supposed to be able to burn medai at up to 16x and I am using 4x Philips media. SO I should get at lesat 4x burn speed, correct?

    DMA is enabled.

    Any suggestions?

    Have you tried a 8x capable media to see what speed it will let you burn at?
