Hi I was wondering if u guys could help me backup my dvd collection. Im buying a dual layer dvd burner but right now i wont be burning dual layer discs as there 10 dollars canadian.

I want to burn my dual layer dvd's to single layer disc. Keeping THE MENU , EXTRA FEATURES, EVERYTHING ON THE DISC. I cant find a non biased review on which software to use, I heard of dvd squeeze which is free but I heard its not that great. what would be the best program to do this and GIVE ME THE BEST POSSIBLE PICTURE QUALITY (ill be watching them on a 50 inch tv). MONEY IS NO OBJECT!!!

dvd shrink!!!!! its great and its free. get it here:

    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd-r_tools/dvd_shrink.cfm

use shrink to rip the movie then use decrypter to burn or nero can get both of them from AD software tab up top.

i use shrink and dvd decrypter and have no problems. 1 piece of a dvice is to get good quality media ie taiyo yuden(online) fuji film, verbatim data life plus(retail stores)

For the best backup hands down you will need
    DVD Decrypter Free
DVD Rebuilder Free ($10US for pro)
Cinema Craft Encoder SP $1950.00US ("money is no object") :) or
    Cinema Craft Encoder Basic $58US

I use dvddecrpter to put it on my hdd. Then dvdshrink to encode and analize and dvddecrpter to burn. Havn't founf anything I can't backup yet, and I use ritek hub printables from supermediastore, And you can also go to dvddcrypter.com and learn everything you want to know about all you want to do.

    hello76,
    Welcome to the forum.
You were given the best. DVDRebuilder ( free)+ CCE Basic (56.00 US). Your total outlay is $56.00 US. That is the best but there is a learning curve but once over the hump you will not notice any difference between the original on a DVD-9 and one on a DVD-5. I use it for movies that have to be compressed more than 20%. So you will use DVDDecrypter to rip it and then DVDRebuilder to compress using CCE and Then Nero to burn. The closest you will come for the "best quality" is 3 Programs. There is not a program out there that can touch CCE for the encoding quality you will get although there are some free ones that are making progress

I know the pictures are from version 0.55 which is a little outdated, such as the Verbose Status Window is shown under Mode, but has since moved to File, but everything is there, you might have to look around the newest version a little. It is still a excellent guide

I agree that RB/CCE is definitely the best but if you want a very good one step program I recommend Intervideo DVDCopy3 ($49) http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/InterVideoDVDCopy_Profile.jsp with anydvd ($39) http://www.slysoft.com/en/purchase.html running in the background. Both have a fully functional free trial.

DvdCopy3 imho is second only to RB/CCE and produces amazing results when compressing a complete dvd9's to a dvd5 and is faster than most other apps. Anydvd is a proggy that runs entirely in the background and is used to break css encryption on copy right protected dvd's.

Although dvd shrink is a good (free) proggy when used in reauthor mode to backup only the movie, I don't recommend it for compressing a complete dvd9 to a dvd5 when compared to other retail apps.

    Hello everyone.

I am only new to this forum and come to you with my experiences from Australia. Having not used alot of the other programs mentioned earlier in this thread I can only state what I have been using and found to be what I thought was good quality.

The combination I have been using is DVD Decrypter followed by Pinnacle Intstant Copy (mine is version 8) to shrink the file down to the appropriate size. I save that file to hard disk and then run the program a second time to burn to disc. I have not had a single failed burn using this combination.

I would like to hear what you guys with far greater experience have to say. If I am using something that is somewhat inferior, please tell me and I will try to update.

I have recently installed Nero Reloaded and am running a seperate thread with a problem I am having with it (NeroVision Express 3...).

Great to be part of such a usful site.

    Hi aabbccdd,

I personally have never tried DVDClone2 but there was a lengthly thread a while back between bbmayo and brobear (both AD addicts) comparing the two. Bbmayo at first thought DVDClone2 was better but after he ran several comparisons between the two of the same movie and some convincing from brobear he finally concluded that DVDCopy3 is the better of the two apps although they are very comparable. Of the apps I've tried, DVDCopy3 is second only to RB/CCE.
