It probably wouldn't take long at all. But then you run in to the problem of the team being the ONLY source for hacked firmware.

So if they implement a firmware you have to pay for, then someone else goes and cracks it, what's to stop the team from saying "f'ck it, you don't want to pay then we're not releasing anymore firmware".

the bigger problem for me is how selective are the team going to be when choosing who gets the fw and who is considered general public?

Ugh, I hope they don't charge for it, I've been waiting to flash my Lite-on until LT comes out, and I don't have money right now. Just paid for tuition and books. Grr...

Plus, there's not really any guarantee that we wont still be banned somehow.

If the firmware is a good as they are hyping it up to be then I wouldn't have any problem donating 10$-15$ (when I have the money). It would keep everything much less complicated.

Surely they must realize that this would be an inherent problem with this product? You can't hold pirates hostage and expect them to take it sitting down.

I think they should amp up their donation campaign, they would probably be more successful than if they would alienate their consumer base by charging for LT.

Even with LT, M$ can still detect bad backups so this firmware cannot guarantee safety on live. However, it does reduce the risk of being banned but bad rips will raise as many flags as they ever did.

Well from what I have heard, people have been banned just because of firmware. For instance, someone flashes their drive and never plays a game, original or backup, but uses xbox live.

What I mean is, if iXtreme LT will eliminate all chances of being banned except for bad rips, then I wouldn't mind paying for it.

I have a question though, I heard that ABGX actually had a lot of bad rips. So how would you guys suggest we make sure that the rips we use are perfect?

    New post from ixtremelt.com

12 January 2009 - ixtreme LT passing all the new xbox live checks
All the new checks from Xbox live are found. All current firmwares, stealth and non-stealth, are detectable and get flagged for banning. The good news is, ixtreme LT is passing the new checks. Still no estimated time of arrival!

So that confirms what i believed the whole time, The firmware was detectable. Thank goodness I've been unplug since the wave began. Its good to get some news from team jungle. I have patience for LT as long as info on the progress keeps coming in.

No. What that confirms is MS just recently implemented a new way to detect backup and/or read firmware. If they had been able to the whole time then this last huge ban wave would've happened a long time ago.

exactly i will giggle if they charge for it. After making us wait this long its terribly greedy to try to charge for it. I for one will do everything in my power to see that people do not have to pay for LT and i believe it will be cracked, hacked w.e you wana call it so other will get it for the price its worth. Free.

Wow. I have to say that's really a poor attitude you have towards this subject. Because of them, you get free games. And your attitude is that they OWE that to you. That's a shame.

I agree, these guys have saved people boat loads of money in free games, and at least 2/3's of the people who've saved money won't donate a few quid/dollars for the project.

its worth alot more than free if you ask me i have saved so much money through the firmwares but it will be free unless the dev team all want to do some time. ms will come down on them like a tone of bricks. its gonna take time they are trying to get it right and fix any problems. you cant tell everyone that it will not be detected and that it will be safe to play on xbl without severe testing to make sure it is safe.

No what i meant is that this recent huge ban wave is the result of Microsoft ability to now identify a modded firmware. that is what i believed was the reason to why hundreds of thousands of modded console were detected no matter whcih version of ixtreme was being used.

And also i have to agree with Aki09 I will be really shocked if C4eva and Team Jungle choose to make a profit from LT especially with how public they have been with the development with twitter accounts and forums such as this. we all know Microsoft is keeping an eye on them as well. So to come out and say hey were gonna make profit off of LT i feel is ballzy

How does C4eva know that the consoles he is checking LT with are not flagged and will be banned in the next wave? How can he know if LT is passing xbox live checks? LT or no LT, there is going to be one big ban wave about a month before Halo Reach is released in September. However, LT should significantly reduce the amount of people banned. I wouldn't mind donating at all. With the amount of money to be saved by flashing, what's a few euro?

. If this was true the only way I would consider it is if there is some kind of garantee about getting banned. They can't expect people to pay if there is still a chance Microsoft will be able to detect it. And how are c4eva and co supposed to know what tricks Microsoft have up there sleave? EDIT: confirmed not true
