85% of the comments in this thread are off topic! Besides fixing issues in ixtreme lt due to non verbatim media has now become part of the topic.

Maybe you should give Verbatim a shot, ive only ever used them and I still are't banned. I wish it was the only choice, then we would probably all have LT sooner.

actually if you werent so inorant, you would know memorex is just as good as verb as is almost any DL dvd. I have 6 different kinds of dl dvds in my library all work PERFECT if you burn properly and own a decent burner.

So i must be stupid yes?

    ignorant b@$tard.

Actually yes, you are stupid. Memorex aren't even close to the same type of material. Memorex DVD's have cheap dyes while verb media uses a higher quality. This explains why Verbs work perfect in every DVD drive while Memorex will give Disc read errors in others. Plus, using memorex makes the laser work much harder because the dye is crap. I'll admit, I use them, but I'm not affraid to admidt they are junk. I'm just cheap when it comes to that. I'd rather replace a laser every now and then. If you aren't using a lite-on or BenQ, then Memorex is not the way to go.

How hard is it to replace a laser? Any soldering?

No soldering. And don't waste your time unless it's a benQ or Lite-on. Remove ball of solder and clip in.

No, it's because those drives can usually get away with using the shit media.

I've never had any problems with read errors or coasters using memorex over verbs on any drives. In fact i've had more coasters with verbs than memorex. And they cost half the price. Pretty obvious to me: use what works (and if they both work, might as well use what's cheaper).

Might have to look around for the price of memorex then if everyone loves them so much. Funny you say about getting away with using crap media on those drive because the only drives ive had problems with the laser dying out was my benq and a liteon 7000 series. Nothing beats hitachi in my opinion, still got one going strong from 2006. Sammies are good, but an awful lot of them have the drive not opening problem.

this makes me laff ...... oh geez.... well just for the fun of it i've always used Aone discs, apaz they use the same manufacturer as verb but that could be bs tbh but i've never had a bad disc and they play fine in sh*tachi, lites and sammy's so Aone it is for me all the way down the line cus i'm as tight as a ducks ass and thats water tight :)

I bought a 50 pack of Memorex off of Newegg for $35, and I wound up getting 9 actual games out those 50 discs. Those 9 games had so many disc read errors that I just threw them out.

This is the funniest thing I've ever seen. Hitachi's are by far the crap drive of the bunch.

Defo! Ive had a few hitachis and you pretty much always need to do a POT calibration.

They are just junk. I always recommend to my customers to upgrade to a BenQ

Has anyone ever tried using Philips DVD+R Dual Layer (DL) 8X Silver Branded Double Layer DVD Plus R Blank Media Discs? I've been using these and never burnt any coasters, everything has worked so far, is this a good media to be using?

if they're working for you then don't worry about it. i've used nothing but verbs because [strikethrough]most[/strikethrough] all of the experienced people in the modding community recommend it. also... verbs will strain your laser the least.

Well I haven't really tried any other brands other than that and a memorex, can you hear the difference from other brands of disc as they load in the 360?
