I have been very happy with FTI FalconMedia DVD+R DL. The white inkjet hub printable surfaces are excellent, better than many Taiyo Yuden I have tried.

I still believe Verbatim are the best but I haven't had any coasters from these FalconMedia discs used for both 360 backups and full length DVD's. For < $50 give em a chance and see what you think.

I emailed my modder guy earlier today to ask what he knows. He says production is suspended indefinitely until the development team stop arguing about whether to make a profit off LT or not. This is probably old news though

Well i for one wouldn't be too bothered about paying for it, if it meant a better quality and safer firmware, i can imagine 90% of people out there wouldn't mind either.

Pay for firmware? Don't they realize that they are working with people who steal video games? What will stop them from "sharing" this firmware?

And, will they refund me next time I am banned? I don't care that I got banned, but I'd be a little sour about paying too much money for firmware that is going to make me buy another Xbox..

Ya its redundant to try to charge pirates for software so we can play bootlegged games online? Its a joke.

One of those hard headed dev team members should just leak it and get it over with. Seems the wave is over too provided you do the latest dashboard updates with a stock drive and THEN flash so really we can all tell the dev team to L!ck a certain place.

I have to agree with you. A lot of people will be in favor of the one time payment & the long term savings.

But ya what is stopping a person who pays for it and then leaks it on the net for everyone else to avoid paying?

Modifying the xbox is illegal as it is, isnt paying for a hacked firmware even more illegal?

^^^^ yeah it is, not to mention that if they are charging for it then that "not responsible if your xbox is bricked or banned" thing goes out the window. If they charge for it they would have to be positive that these things wouldn't happen or they would be legally responsible for all the ruined consoles...

If they are trying to charge for it thats probably whats taking so long. They are trying to make sure that it will work 100% flawless, probably trying to work it into a hard mod i.e. modchip so that people don't just "pirate" their product..(ironic I know lol) And trying to figure out the legal implications of the whole thing.

This is probably exactly what they are working on now. How can we charge people for the firmware, but protect ourselves at the same time? The slogan of LT is "no more bans," so if you purchase it and have verifiable evidence that LT is what caused you to get banned, they would be in for some false advertising lawsuits. The modding community isn't dumb. We know it takes time and effort to get these firmwares out to the public. Keep accepting donations and I have no doubt that they will get back money equivalent to the time they put in. I would have no problem donating $5-$10 if they release LT for free.

I have a feeling MS would take them to court hella faster than one guy with a banned 360.

Not just in optical media but any type of magnetic drive. As a technician i have replaced both in the past.

I don't think that the selling of this firmware is illegal. There are countless products that are created for operating systems that don't require the purchase of any kind of license in order to sell it. Many devices have sold in the past that allowed the playing of back ups and I have yet to see any cases of lawsuits.

A fw itself is a program that allows for hardware to function in a specific way.

I don't know why you broke people are ignorant enough to download illegal content yet to come back and whine about having to pay for something you never bought in the first place.

Surely once someone had the LT firmware, it will make its rounds on USENET & Torrents so IMHO its pointless selling it. I wonder if they get many donations, I know there have been few threads mentioning this in the past.

The creators of the iXtreme LT firmware have always been aware that some if not all buyers of their LT firmware plan to extract and use it at their own discretion. This is why Iriez indicated in his memoir almost a month ago that the modding community would not be able to do just that.
So this clearly states sharing LT will be impossible unless we can encrypt the original drive key (like the creators would) to work with the new firmware.

All of this is still speculation as LT has been delayed ... however, there still has been no confirmation by TeamJungle that it will remain free of charge once its released.

Wouldn't them useing there own encryption key kind of defeat the purpose of the the LT. I mean it was suppose to be lightwieght and no different then the MS firware. So if the encrytion is different wouldn't that kind of screw up the idea of it being LiteTouch?

More importantly, how do they plan to implement such a thing? Do they plan on setting it up so that when you buy LT, you send them your drive key and they encrypted it and put it in the firmware for you and send you your on firmware copy? I can't imagine that's going to be fun for them to do.

The only way encryption would work tho is if they encrypted it, and then the firmware it self de-crypts it for usage. How long will it take till the rest of the community reverse engineers the program and makes a home encrypter tho?
