Hi, Recently I bought the NEC 3540 DVDRW and I'm having some issues with it. At first whenever I put a blanc CD/DVD in it I got the message 'drive not accessible'. I could burn with NERO but the drag&drop from XP wouldn't work. I ran ASPICHECK and found that my ASPI-layers from XP weren't loaded at all, only from NERO. I installed them again, same problem. Then I looked in the registry and saw my vritual drive was defined as 'recording' and my physical drive wasn't, so I changed that. Now I can still play CD's/DVD's and can burn with NERO and I can 'drag' a file onto a CD/DVD but when I want to write them (with XP-wizard) it doesn't recognize the blanc disc. I tried several brands (MORE,SAMSUNG and SONY) without any luck. I even checked wheter it could be the NEC-writer and replaced it with an other (definetly working) CD-writer. Same problems. I've googled the web but couldn't find anything useful. Hope someone here can give me some help.
Try disabling your virtual drive software, reboot, and try to burn with Nero and the XP burning software.
Thanks bert. I checked with NeroTool and indeed it doesn't. Sigh ..... Well in the meantime I found Nero Express will do about just the same so I'll guess I have to stick to that. Once again, thanks.
