I have the older iPod video 30gb and I recently heard about the new 'enhanced' iPods with more battery and a brighter screen. I also heard they come with new features such as alphbetical scroll, gapless playback and a new search function. I thought wow you beauty, i'll just upgrade to the new firmware (1.2) and i'll have those functions.

So i upgraded. I found the gapless playback and the alphabetical scroll to work, but there was no search function!

Why should the new iPod have this only? I can't afford to buy a new iPod everytime one comes out! After all it's only a firmware update needed! Theres no reason my iPod can't have the search function!

Has anyone updated and found the search function? Does anyone have an explanation as to why this is so? Does anyone else share my pain!

I mean, how does it feel to get a new iPod, knowing that you have the lastest and greatest machine?.. And then a newer better one comes out... $H1T!

    Please help... Anyone!

I've got the newest 80GB iPod and I didn't notice much of the gapless playback either to tell you the truth. Although I should have after all the time itunes spent (determining gapless playback information). Yea it took an additional hour or so doing that after I had already spent quite a bit of time transfering 40GBs of music. But I know exactly how you feel, I bought the 4th gen 20GB iPod photo and then one month later found out that the iPod videos were coming out. But my iPod was full this time around so I decided it was time for an upgrade.

Well, I only have a 2gb iPod Nano so I really need an upgrade. Preferably to the 80gb like you.

Yea, I love mine but the only thing I wish they could work on is making the 80GB or what ever size comes out next, smaller like the 30GB version. It's kind of wierd though, I always thought the 30GB had a HDD but I looked on bestbuys website and it says it uses flash not a HDD, and the 80GB uses a HDD (which I would expect) but I didn't think we had 30GB flash yet.
