Hi i want to get a new graphic card but im not sure of the compatibility. I currently have a geforce fx 5200 64MB. but i want to get a radeon 9550 256MB. Any 1 know if there might be compatibility errors because i have nvidia drivers installed. Any tutorial site would be helpful as well. Thanx for any replies.
Goto you add/remove programes and remove the nVidia graphics drivers... Then shut down your machine... Take out your nVidia graphics card then put your ATI graphics card in.... Boot your system up then load the ATI drivers... : )
Majorgeeks.com has a Drivers Tool section with freeware that removes any nVidia or ATI drivers, even the remnants. Perhaps nVidia's site has their own driver uninstalling tool that you can utilize. Also, what Rosco404 said.
to tobi2yul: Did you find a resonable priced radeon 9550 256mb graphic card someplace. I have been looking for a decent 128bit 128-256mb ddr 2 ALL in Wonder graphic card at a reasonable price. I don't want to spend more than a 100bucks.

Do you mean you have on-board nVidia graphics or you have a GeForce2 AGP card? If you got the AGP card then simply remove the card (while the computer is off : ) then pop the new one in and boot... Download the latest drivers from nVidia.com and install.... If you have on-board nVidia graphics, open the machine and see if you have an AGP slot (should do : )... Just pop in the GeForce 6600 and boot then download drivers from nVidia.com and install....
yeah its an on boad grafic card and there is a AGP slot. do I have to unistall the existing one or do anything to it thanks
Not really if it nVidia onboard graphics, but its best to go into your add/remove programes and remove the graphics drivers from there... Then shut down the PC, plug the new card in and let it boot... Download the latest drivers from nVidia's web site and install them... Thats it... : )
If you are putting a new card in a machine with an on-board card, some bios will allow you to disable the on-board. Check your bios, just to make sure. If it is not there, go ahead and install the new card. The bios will automatically take care of the rest. ~Rich
Newer boards within a year or two will boot automatically from the AGP slot if a card is in there : )
