If you update a ihas 624 it gets a driver called GL29. Dont use this as it wont allow the burning of discs for XGD3. If anybody updates to that firmware you have to downgrade and then upgrade to the version before the GL29 driver. Its sorted now, ive burnt a few discs and they seem ok. Thanks

That's odd, cos I have a 624 that I updated to GL29 and it worked fine. The version of Burner Max for the 624 is actually based on GL29 which is why it appears as "GL29" in KProbe: -

As long as it's working for you and you can burn games, it's all good though.

I'm confused. The only way to burn new games now is to get a lite on drive and flash it to burner max firmware? I'm sure my laptop isn't compatible and I can't flash burner max to it(its a dell studio)correct? thanks for helping.

It's not the only way to burn new games, but it's the only safe way. Some games have new checks which will fail if you truncate the burn.

The 6 burners that can be used for Burner Max are all full sized burners. If you only have a laptop, you could get an external caddy like these: -

Or a much cheaper option is to buy a bunch of cables like this: -

Thanks. I have a desktop I can use to burn the games. I'll just buy a lite on and install in the desktop. Thanks for the quick reply!

I think I have a problem? I bought the iHAS 124 B and flashed it with burner max following all of the instructions. I bought Verbatim 2.4x disks made in Singapore. Patched the file and burned in ImgBurn. Everything wen t great. Then I tried it on my XBXox. It seems that the disk reads in my console, but when I tried to install it on the HDD it couldn't get past 24% so I figured I had an issue and came back and started reading more. I installed kprobe and I can't even get it to start the test. It's like it will not even read my disk. The only thing I have found that might be a problem is I am running in RAID. I was told that the flash to burner max might fail....but it went off without a hitch so I thought I was in the clear. My blank disk even shows in the drive as 8.13 so I figured that was good enough confirmation that flashed properly. Would running in RAID be what is preventing a proper burn? Would that make it burn only 24% and quit? I need help

    Hi everyone,

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who has contributed to help me, and all who had questions about this. This thread was really helpful! Thank you.

Second, I'd like to know if there is a way to know which xgd3 games have those checks you were talking about (like forza4). I have burnt xgd3 games with no problem, using the truncate method. I have burnt LotR war in the north; and Dark Souls. But I am now attempting to burn Kingdoms of Amalur and it won't work. The 360 recognizes the game, as the game's graphics (a fat golden and bald boy with an axe) appear in the menu along with the game's name. I can install the game, but it won't play. I've already wasted a number of verbatims, using different methods and I always get the same result. Could it be because of those checks you mentioned?

Third, someone also said that LG burners might pose a problem. I own a LG burner. What kind of problems am I potentially looking at?

Finally, if indeed KoA doesn't burn correctly because of those checks, is there anyone who has encountered the same problem with other games and made a list of some sort? It would be helpful to know in advance what games have extra checks in them.

Thanks in advance to any response that anyone here may give.

    Cheers

I have that problem also.. I have a stupid question .. do I have to mod my box too or just use the ihas124b to create a copy and play in any xbox360.. also can I rent a game rip it and burn it that way or is that a pain.. I have been messing with trying to get this to make useable copies for bout 6 months.. I wasted about 60 bux in discs that dont work,,,, I would bail on this but Im into it a coulpe hunderd bux.. burning using ihas124b with verbatum discs.. and I dont get any error prompts durring the burn

I have a quick question about Imgburn and the layerbreaks for XGD3 vs XGD2.

Usually after I've popped in a disk and I've uploaded the ISO via the DVD file the layerbreak appears in Imgburn like so:

    DVD±R DL Boundary Information:
    L0 Data Zone Capacity: 2,133,520
    Changeable: Yes

Am I correct in my understanding that that is the layerbreak information that Imgburn is going to use when it burns the disk?

The reason I'm asking is because that number is the layerbreak for an XGD3 ISO, however lately I was trying to burn an XGD2 ISO which has a layerbreak of 1913760. Unfortunately when I load the DVD file for the XGD2 ISO the above Boundary Information doesn't change, it stays at 2,133,520. I've checked the DVD file and it has the proper XGD2 layerbreak info.

I'm pretty certain that this number used to change based on the layerbreak information that is written in the ISO's DVD file.

Has it always worked like this? Am I going crazy? Even when I go into the options and force Imgburn's layerbreak from Optimal to forced 1913760, the information in the Boundary Information doesn't change.

Am I simply confused, is the Boundary Information not the layerbreak info taken from the DVD file, or does Imgburn simply not update its interface but it will still use the correct layerbreak anyway, or is my Imgburn acting wonky?

I am using Imgburn version 2.5.6.0. I'd really like to know if anybody knows anything about this, that way I can better understand whether or not I'm doing something wrong and what exactly that might be.

In the meantime I didn't want to waste a DL DVD just to prove myself wrong. So I decided to use CloneCD to burn the XGD2 ISO. With CloneCD I'm able to see the proper layerbreak information when I load the XGD2 ISO from the DVD file. Still, maybe somebody can set me straight about Imgburn.

    Thanks in advance :)

Are you sure you're not looking at the info for the last burned disc?

If the layerbreak is set to "Calculate Optimal" under Tools - Settings - Write, then ImgBurn will use the layerbreak in the .DVD file and if a .DVD file does not exist it will calculate the optimal layerbreak based on the disc capacity and size of the image you're burning.

If you have set a manual layerbreak under Tools - Setttings - Write, then ImgBurn will use that regardless, which is why it's not a particularly good idea given that there are now 2 different layerbreaks for 360 games so it's better to leave it on "Calculate Optimal" and use a .DVD file.
