New Hard Drive- I want to install windows

I have a WD 80gb hard disc on my computer. I formatted it in the disc management section of Computer management in administrative tools section but i want to be able to install windows xp on to it as it does not recognise it in the setup. Could someone help me please?

 

place it into master primary cable pinned correctly

use the setup disk that came with the harddrive

drop in the XP disk

 

i dont have a setup disc as the hard drive is used. would you recommend a partitioning software?
