Hi, i just recieved my new 250gb western digital 8mb cache ide har disk, managed to get windows to release it was over 137gb and all that. but the only problem now is that when i open it in windows xp, the window comes up in with a wee picture of a photo at the bottom left, i.e. windows has the whole drive set to display photos! Such a trival thing but i am stumped on what to do to fix it, i tried everything i knew with customizing the folders, but the problem is windows wont let u customize the whole drive itself? Any ideas? Thanks
You will see a watermark of a picture on the bottom right of the screen cap. Alos, you will notice the 'picture toolbar' on the left side of the screen. I have never seen that before, but I will take a look and see if I can find a solution. ~Rich
See that double up-arrow by "Picture tasks"? Click it to hide it. I'm not sure if you can permanently save this state without a registry hack, but try this: go to Tools->Folder Options->View and tick "Remember each folder's view settings" if it's not already checked. Then click Apply to All Folders.
hi guys, thanks for your suggestions but unfortunately none of them have worked? Any other ideas? is there a way to change it in the registery like u said?
There's another way. Right-click in the folder - you may even be able to right-click the hard drive itself - and select Properties. Then select the Customize tab. On the top item, Use this folder type as template, select Documents or something. That'll get rid of the Picture Tasks junk.
sorry dude tried that, but cause it is at opening page of the hard drive it just brings up properites to do with teh hard drive!
Click the drive and go into (explore) it. Select your root folder (or everything) and do the procedure I mentioned above, but be sure to click the box that applies it to subfolders as well.
sorry, nothing is working at all does anyone have any ideas? anyone know how to change the registery? Thanks
