I would Like to add another hard drive to my computer. The question I have is how do I get all of the files copied from the current drive to the new drive. The new drive will be the primary (boot) drive and the old drive will be a back up.

What I was wondering, can I just install the new drive, and drag and drop C: onto D: and then just switch the drive around.

Not sure what files you are referring too, but if you are just going to copy regular files (not program installations) to the new drive after you install the operating system, all ya have to do is drag and drop the files into the new drive.

If you are going to set the new drive up as "C" (primary) and the old as "D" (secondary), it's best to use the drive's setup disk to partition the new drive before you use Setup from Windows XP. Otherwise, Setup will give the first partition it sees, the designation C. Which, would be your backup drive.

Or, you could just unplug the second drive (old), install the new one, partition and install XP first. Then, after you are done, plug the old drive back in. (safest route)
