I just installed a secondary hard drive (Western Digital WD Caviar SE 320GB) on my computer and after partitioning and formatting the drive, I found an empty "RECYCLER" folder in both volumes. What is this and can I delete it?
This is a hidden folder that all stuff you "delete" from the recycling bin go into. You can safely delete these but most of the time Windows will recreate them by itself.
Thanks for the info. Will the files in this folder need to be deleted manually or will it purge itself automatically?
If you want it done quicker you can delete the hidden "Recycler" folder and the photos will be permanently gone. As far as I know as you add files to the drive it will eventually overwrite anything in the "Recycler" folder as its now allocated to "empty" space on the drive.
