New hard drive

    I have now a 200 gb hd(C)168 gbin ntfs and (G)21gb in fat 32>total 200gb.i am going to buy a 300gb because 200is full.when i pop in new one do i have to set it to a different setting on the outside like slave?i want to be able to make the new hard drive work like (c)local disk is there a way to do this.also i want it to be in ntfs format for backing up games .and if i try to instal a program will it go automatically to new hard drive .is there a way to set the pc to install stuff on new hard drive >>instead of it wanting to go on c drive .

    Hi, you didn't specify if the drives are IDE or Sata. If both are IDE, you will have to set jumers master and slave. If the new drive is Sata, you don't have to worry about jumpers.

    After you get the drive installed, you will go to Disk Management and initialize, create partitions and format in NTFS. Then it will show up in My Computer.

    When you install programs, it will ask you for the path(drive,folder) for the installation. You will pick the new drive as the destination.......
