I just got a new hard drive. 160 Western Digital. I tried to install Windows 98 onto it so I could then upgrade to Win XP Pro. it told new that since it is new I need to format it. I folled their steps and it formatted it automatically for me. But when it was completed it told me it couldnt proceed any further and that their was some error but did not go on explaining.

I'm really outa ideas here. I think i screwed myself over. when I try and put the old HD back in so I could at least make a boot CD, it wont load because of some "Realtek PCI Fast Ethernet card". it tells me the wire possibly isnt connected to the board. problem with that is, I dont even have a PCI Ethernet card. I even went out and got one and put it in my computer to see if that would fix it but it didnt.

guys, im begging you. help me. my computer is everything to me.

That's the trouble when you get a hacked/cracked copy of a program and haven't got a key.

    As SypherTek said
It's against forum rules to aid piracy.

Try going to Western Digitals site and downloading what ever tools they have.

You will have to reformat and set partions. Then don't bother with Win 98, go and get yourself Win XP, (with a product key), there are plenty of places that have win XP and you should be able to get the whole thing up and running.

    Adh Mor *(good luck)

For your information GiantMike if you'd had a legal key I would have been more than happy to assist you, as would SypherTek.

Piracy is not condoned here, I purchased a LEGAL copy of XP with a LEGAL product key, however if my computer crashed I would have no problem fixing it myself in a very short time - after 5 years experience. lol

I hope your childish outburst makes you feel better, it certainly gave me a good laugh.
