I recently bought a New HP Pavillion dv8305us, and there are two folders on the hard drive (I386, & SWSetup) i don't know what these are! Are they important? or can i remove them? they total 5.7GB.

You do not want to remove those folders, I also have a new HP laptop, and those folders are there just in case you need to recover your laptop. So it is not a good idea to remove them.

The SWSetup you most likely can delete, the I386 folder you may want to find out why it is there befor you delete it, just in case you may actualy need it.

I wouldn't delete either of them, because it might cause problems with the system *i've seen that happen with HP systems a few times*, and not to mention it's always a good idea to keep the restore possibility on the HD, just in case your disc gets damaged.
