    I wish my Xecuter hardware would arrive soon! Not even a tracking number yet though. Ughhhh! The pain of looking at these games here is killing me (but of course I could just play my originals...)

    So do I need to update to 1.5 right away or will I be fine with 1.4 for a little while? It was a pain in the ass getting my Hitachi into mode-b without resorting to the two-wire trick. And I just loaded 1.4 a few days ago.

    if your hitachi is flashed you can go into mode b in another way by the open thingy
    or you always have the slax release
    bout 60 and a cd to keep ur drive safe

    i hope my question doesnt get too much unappreciated, but the story about the serial connector you have to solder or that other thing, does it stay like that for the final 1.5?

    We need to compile a FAQ/noob proof guide. Everyone should chip in a little. Takes the weight off of one person:

    Q: What are the minimum requirements I need to flash the Lite-on drive without possibly voiding the warranty?
    A: A VIA chipset SATA card, a spear to extract your lite-on key.

    Q: But I'm opening my Xbox, isn't that voiding your warranty.
    A: Sometimes keeping the sticker can be illegal, other times it is not, this is dependent on the laws of your country.

    A Lite-on dedicated tutorial like those for the other drives would be nice

    Q: What sort of SATA controller card do I need to flash the Lite-On?
    A: One with a VIA VT6421A chipset.

    Is that red line connecting to the Tx on the Probe Diagram the spear?

    Here is the same diagram I edited to kind of fool-proof my assumptions.

    Does this look right?

    why dont u stop mucking up the thread with this BS quoting that over again is useless and it is doing nothing but cause clutter....what u are trying to prove is pointless. no one cares how deep in the scene u or guesswho is. Guesswho at least is trying to contribute while u are doing nothing but causing a mess and claiming that u have all this insider info....im not saying i do not beleive but that i SIMPLY DO NOT CARE so please stop these games and do something constructive...and if u do something constructive how about u come here and share it instead of comming here and saying "oh i did/know this but i cant talk about it to you guys" PLEASE STFU
